Sitting at my son's baseball game and a dad asked his son if he forgot his cup. I know boys wore them in middle school. Do they wear them in elementary school too? |
It was required in our little league. As the wife of someone who ruptured a testicle in a softball game, let me recommend getting one for your son. |
I think they start wearing them as soon as they take up a sport where an injury in that region is a significant risk.l |
Ouch! Ok good enough for me. |
I started playing hockey at 8 and they were standard equipment. I think even the 6 year olds wear them. |
Any brand or style recommendations? |
Shock jock. It's a compression short with a removeable cup. Easy to throw in the wash. |
Required in our LL once the kids start pitching. My sone is 9 and wears one. |
Do most kids wear them during soccer? My DS had to get one for baseball , but it was only required if they were catching. The one we got just fits in your underwear--that doesn't seem like it would be very comfortable running around in a soccer game??? |
No cups at all in soccer games. |
What about lacrosse? |
Any sport with a ball that travels fast should have a cup. Even a pickup game.
25 years ago, in May 1988...my fellow grad students and I decided to play a friendly pickup game of softball. I was catching....I missed a foul tip, and it had a direct hit to the left testicle. I passed out from the pain. While they were able to save it, it often hurts. That moment was the only time I hit 10 on the pain scale. (and that includes surgery to remove a kidney and pain from cancer). If in doubt, wear a cup! |
Baseball was 9 years old. Football- never. |
always for baseball. we started at 6/7 years old. there is a huge selection. our coach insisted and he's a doctor so all the parents listened. the kids get it. they all wear one. |
I started wearing one when I was 5.... A cup was required in my elementary school to play baseball... Karate a cup was required when I started so... I have got hit there so many times so I am always protected. In karate allway by someone else and my karate teacher once, but now that I help my teacher show how to do moves on people to the other kids, he always hits me there, and pretty hard too.
I started out wearing the Schock Doctor PeeWee BioFlex Cup now I wear the adult version, I love the product and I would recommend it.. |
