Another OUCH story, yikes. I'm the OP of this thread, even though it's over a year old. Yes, my son has been wearing a cup since. 2 seasons of baseball. He doesn't complain. Hasn't been hit there, thank goodness. But I'm glad he's in the habit now.

Is it a Schock Dr? if so my 11 year old son wears one to he loves it and doesn't complain at all.

Really you should start as young as possible, I started my sons all at 4-5 now their 5,7,8. They all wear the McDavid FlexCup either inPeeWee or youth my 7 and 8 year olds do karate so they do a lot of groin contact and my 5 year old does baseball so he needs to be protected it was mandotory by the school/coaches, my sons always get hit, the only time they get hit with no cup on is by their sister. Now as for my sons in karate they do full contact sparing with other kids and the rule on groin contact is its legal in all ages and ranks but you can only strike the groin once in they 10 and lower group but 10 and up you can strike as much as you want and as hard as you want, now my friends that have their son in the same karate school and their kids and are 10 and up they say anything goes for groin contact, groin grabs, groin pulls, groin kicks, knees to the groin, groin twists are allowed but better to have my sons ready by having cups earlier then never!

Oh yes definitely in any game or contact sport, karate, Baseball Football, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, etc etc.
i started at 10 and now I'm 15 I get hit all the time in some of these sports listed, it's better safe than sorry.
Trust me on that. I recommend Shock Dr And Mc David not Nutty Buddy!

My 8yo DS wears one for baseball. He spends the first few innings with his hand down his pants adjusting it because it feels "weird," then mid-game comes over to me, pulls it out, and hands it to me. Then I get to put it in my purse. Lovely.

My son Is 8yo he wears a cup to his baseball and soccer games. He has allwas fought with me to wear his cup, but once he starts playing he doesn't even notice it. One day he was arguing with me I told him to forget it and leave it at home that was the only day when he got Hit in the balls while playing Soccer.
I do why we always fight about this.?

I started when I was 9 or so for full contact sparing in karate, now I'm 15 and a black belt, every black belt is required to have a cup on during every single class cuz you don't know what drills you will be doing that involve striking the groin, I also teach karate to young kids and almost half of them have no control at first and I wind you getting hit in the groin very hard by them they sometimes also aim low too, now when I am training on the other hand I always ask my training partner if they are wearing a cup, if they are I strike the groin but if they are not wearing a cup I know to not strike them in the groin.. So overall I do wear a cup, sometimes when I start training I don't even relies my cup is there!!
