I have a well stocked bar. Low-class boozer, middle-class cocktail-book priss, or upper-class degenerate?
How do I come across? |
Totally depends on what you're stocked with... And your drinking habits. |
I know nothing about brands/years of alcohol or wine or their prices, so that wouldn't affect my initial judgement of your collection (unless, of course, it was in a beautiful wine cellar, but from describe I'm envisioning a fully stocked basement/playroom bar). My first reaction was that you drink much more than me and probably more than I would be comfortable socializing with. Fwiw I drink a bottle of wine a week and we only buy two bottles a week (one for him, one for me). |
I'd say no. We don't drink a lot, but I've accumulated a well-stocked bar over the years because I've gotten things for parties or specific events, and we don't drink them quickly. Friends also bring booze as a default gift.
If I walked in and saw a well-stocked bar it wouldn't occur to me that someone spends a lot of money on alcohol. |
The only people I've known who had extraordinarily well-stocked home bars have all had drinking problems, irrespective of class. |
No |
No. But I do have a friends with an amazing climate controlled wine cellar full of fine wines. |
Now, this would be a status symbol. The hard stuff, not so much. |
That's an intentional status symbol ![]() |
I have a ton of booze because we DONT drink. Every gift over the years has accumulated to a rather large collection. My husband gets quarterly and end of the year vendor gifts that are often times bottles of liquor and we have many dinner parties where we get a ton of wine. I always tell myself not to buy wine for parties because people bring it but then I figure its kinda rude/presumptuous to count on someone bringing it so I buy a few bottles to have. Then of course people bring tons of wine so I have double the amount I need. |
That's an intentional status symbol and so 90s. |
I would think that you had a lot of parties. |
I don't think it is a status symbol.
My mother insists anyone with a stocked bar is an alcoholic. She's crazy. |
If a majority of the bottles are plastic and/or have handles, then you already have your answer. |
There's something slightly cheesy to me about having a bar in your house. Can't quite put my finger on why. |
