I really can't speak for other people.but speaking for myself I grew up on ramen noodles/tv dinners /banquet pot pies /franks(aka Frankfurter's) with pork & beans in a can/ other canned foods /kool-aid/ cheap Chinese food / Sundays & holidays would be soul food meals .alot of stuff is the cheap stuff that will do more bad to you're body then good.

When I got in my 20's I dropped a lot of it did research & started eating better

Everyone. Everyone knows beans and rice is a staple in many places in the world. Glad you get such a giggle at enjoying the simple things in life, even at $500K.

The difference of course being that you can damn well afford to eat anything else that strikes your fancy, too.

Clearly I read the question differently than you did, as I was expecting responses akin to Spam, Cheese Whiz, Ramen, Hungry Man dinners. Not sure why you're so bitchy, though.

Are you a complete moron? What are the staples of indigenous people in Latin America? rice and beans. India? Lentils/ beans and rice.

Why do you think they are staples, cheap and together rice and beans form a complete protein.

Maybe you need to get out of your sheltered $500k HHI world and see how others live before you say stupid things.

I don't eat any of the foods mentioned.I'm poor and I eat salads(2 for $3 at Safeway),asparagus when 99cents,mashed potatoes with ground beef, spaghetti with tomato sauce and ground beef,Raisin brand cereal, kefir, yogurt,Muenster cheese, anything pickled, broiled chicken, steaks, porkchops, boiled potatoes with different gravy and salad on side,potato/rice salad, jello, all fruits and veggies, make pancakes.
Didn't grow up on tv dinners or even drinking soda.Pepsi in stores signaled a special day-maybe an election day.
I do drink milk, coffee, clubsoda, water or apple juice mixed with water.
Had fruit punch the other day-horribly sweet drink.
Affordable junk food? All that yellow-brownish food that is breaded and fried and in frozen aisle.Yikes!
