To comment on this debate that the 2 posters who are going at it about black going threw more to get into positions of power then a white person....

From my point of view ..to be dead-honest that's the way its viewed in our communities....it was always if you wanna be real successful you gotta work your ass off (either that or kiss ass ) .nothing was handed on a silver platter. Do I think every single black person in middle class or upper class worked crazy hard to get there? No I'm sure its a few exceptions but 95% of the time you have to slave to live good being black in america..(not saying its not whites who have to/had to work just as hard I'm sure its some whites who had to work harder then some blacks in the corporate world)..again that's just me saying from how we are schooled in life

Yes I have been on the receiving end of racism. It was annoying but that is all. I will never shop at another Victorias secret. But yes it happens. So what.

So if what people are describing is not racism, what would you choose to call it? Hate-based behavior motivated by race?

racism = white supremacy.

I personally remember the day before the million man march and how a bunch of my white colleagues said they were going to tell their daughters to stay home that day. Amazing the things white people will say when there are no people of color around. I asked them what they meant they said they thought the men would try to rape their daughters. True story and so racist. My jaw hit the floor my stomach turned.

You really are falling for this troll? He is not a young black dude but some bored mom who wants to get responses. She knows that the spelling and grammar thing is a pet topic on DCUM and has deliberately adopted it because most DCUMers will not challenged a "young black dude's" poor command of language.

I believe this as well

I'm also German and can't count the times I've been called a nazi here (I kinda count that as racism).

I am Jewish and while I would never call a German person a Nazi unless I knew for sure they were one, I would definitely be extra careful about letting my Jewishness be known around someone German. Sorry so many of your people killed so many of my people and it's left me wary. I know it's not you personally.

Why? I'm the pp you quoted. I would not think twice about someone telling me that they're Jewish. I would be offended if someone kept that from my because I'm German. It just applys that you still think all German are still nazis.

See im sure that can feel odd@ being only white person...when I go to areas(restaurants/sports bars)where it might be 98% whites & I might be 1 of maybe 3 Black's in there.yet still feel odd until I talk to people & see they alright (at least in public..behind closed doors they maybe calling me all types of dumb "n" ..who knows)

I didn't feel odd starting out but started to feel odd when people treated me weird and teachers graded me unfairly. I was raised very open minded and tolerant so that threw me off a bit.

REALLY!? Please give me whatever it is you're smoking. That's some good shit.

I too envision a world where people of all backgrounds don't experience racism. However,racism is universal and every ethnic group, culture, race, and creed have experienced some form of racism.

Must be a heaping helping from Marion Barry's private crack stash -- along with some of the mayor-for-life's racism.

Isn't Bowie State in PG?

This thread looks like it ran its course, but then was revived by posts that haven't added significantly to the conversation. It's probably better to let it return to it's earlier obscurity.
