We're moving, and we missed deadlines for elementary school lottery

| Any advice on what to do now that I've found out we're moving to DC, not MoCo, about getting my son (entering 1st grade) into a good PS or Charter, preferable a dual language (Spanish-English) program? Call the schools and beg? Submit a round 2 app? HELP! Thanks in advance, DS. |

| Well depending on where you are moving you could end up in a perfectly great in-boundary school. If you are looking for dual-language though (and your in-boundary school does not offer that) you would have to do the lottery via a round 2 app. |

| Your best bet is to move into a neighborhood that is zoned for a good school. If you are "in boundary" the school is required to accept you. |

| Yes, Oyster is your best bet. But you need to stay in-boundary or you can lose your spot. I would rent a small place there rather than rent or buy a bigger place elsewhere. |

they used to let people stay in the school after leaving the boundary, but there were scammers who would take advantage and then move.
can anyone from oyster speak to whether they still allow the practice if being IB and then staying once you move? |

| Are you sure that it is correct that once you move out of boundary you lose your spot? I don't believe that is the case. If you're OOB you do have to get "invited back" every year but unless your child is a major behavior issue, I've never known anyone to not retain their spot, so long as they stayed in DC. |
