DS is now 9 months old and I have 10 more (or really like 13) pounds to go to get back to my prepregnancy weight. It may not seem like a lot but it is the different between zipping up some of my prepregnancy pants and having a serious muffin top. We also have a 6 year old. Most evenings after dinner, homework, and the bedtime routine I am too tired to do anything. But I am willing to suck it up and do something for at least 20 - 30 minutes. Any ideas on what I can do at home to get rid of the muffin top my baby has created? |
I have 10 lbs to go too. I've been trying to do 100 sit-ups every night. It doesn't take long and it is helping a bit. I've also done a workout dvd called "Walk Away the Pounds." You don't even have to leave your house! |
if you're breastfeeding they may come off when you stop. |
If you have limited time to work out, I suggest spending it doing strength training instead of cardio. Many women are afraid to lift weights, but that's how you get the most bang for your buck, so to speak. Washington Sports Clubs have a great strength training workout called "Xpress Line" that allow you to work your whole body in like 25 minutes. |
The Biggest Loser DVD's are REALLY good, and you don't need much to do them. |
I am a certified group cycling instructor. I actually think cardio to get the weight off instead of strength...sit ups aren't going to do much since you have to have very little body fat for your abs to show (they are great for strength but not losing weight in the area). Juat go for a walk or run...free and easy. |
Are you watching what you eat? It is hard to work 10 lbs off if you are eating too many calories.... |
It is TOTALLY possible to be in better shape than you were before pregnancy. YOU can do it...GET UP AND MOVE you will feel so much better once you get moving! The hardest part is STARTING...once you start your energy levels will increase. Mix it up! cardio, strength, yoga, pilates, swim, chase your little one around the house, turn on the music and jump around with him/her...make it fun and you are on your way to a happier you! |
Original poster, I SO could've written this post. My daughter is almost 10 months old and still need to lose the last 8-10 and the awful muffin top. Maybe we can create some sort of support network under the "beauty fitness" forum, where we check in and offer support? We could use one post and just reply to it. What do you think? I need some accountability, and the scale just isn't enough, apparently.... |
The 30 Day Shred DVD will (if you stick to it) absolutely take off those last 10 pounds. It just took off the last 14 for me in the past 9 weeks (in combo with really watching what I ate). It combines strength training, cardio, and abs. I did 10 days at each of the three levels (which get progressively more difficult) and took some days off here and there for a cold, just too tired, etc. Now I do level 3 4X a week. It only takes 20 minutes per night and it goes very quickly because there is absolutely no rest. This DVD did more than any workout of cardio, running, weight training, etc. has ever done for me. I'm back to pre-preg weight and more toned than I was pre-preg. |
to loose weight you have to spend more calories than you ingest.
The first step is to watch what you eat. the quantity matters but quality of your calories count too. chose whole grains when eating carbs. yes, you MUST eat carbs. good carbs though... ![]() snack on dried fruit instead of "diet whatever" drink WATER. say NO to any "diet" kind of drinks. don't make sudden changes. substitute a little at a time so your body wont "miss" anything or crave stuff you used to eat. don't buy stuff you're not "allowed" to eat. out of sight out of mind. second: EXERCISE! chose a class to take 3 days a week to get started. any dancing class like zumba or power whatever will help you to sweat and burn out a little more than your routine already does. lifting weight is good since you'll build muscle mass and your body will start burning more calories but you won't see change in your weight since you'll substitute body fat for muscle. if you want to watch the 10 pound dropping chose something that makes you move. getting out of the house and having time for yourself is part of the weight loss process. your body needs to focus on the task and walking 15min in the treadmill in your basement cannot do it for you. |
Weight watchers on line. I have just lost about 22 lbs on this in about 3-4 months. It totally works and you can do this when you have a family. Not only have I lost this weight I have basically kept it off as I started in July, hit my goal in October and it is now December and a I am still doing really well keeping it all off.
It totally works if you stick with it. Every week I lost weight, every week I thought that I might quit but when I got on the scale every Friday I had lost 1-2 lbs every week. I am wearing clothes that I have not worn in years and I also took all of my bigger clothing to a consignment shop so I will get a big check from all of my hard work too. Hope this will help motivate you. |
My *baby* is 11 months. Can you say muffin top? I am so sick of it. I have not been working out lately I go through phases. Anyone else? I even ran a 10k in september and haven't lost any weight. It seems to stay the same no matter what I eat good or bad. I have 10-15 pounds that won't leave and I look 3 months pregnant! I carry it all in my belly. You are so not alone! |
This sounds like a great DVD! I am wondering if the cardio is high or low impact as I have knee issues and need a low impact aerobic session. |
One of the great things about this DVD is that every level has modified versions of most moves, including the cardio moves. One of the ladies does the "advanced" move and the other does the "beginner" move. So you can easily make it low impact. |
