Apple juice for 4 month old???

Anonymous
In South America, due to the hot weather and often dehidration we introduce tea/water/juice/honey as early as 2mo to children.

tea helps them to sleep and calm down.
honey helps them poop

works wonders!!!

you call those bottled sugary water JUICE?

juice is what you get when you SQUEEZE the fruit.

don't feed your baby CORN SYRUP.

If bottled juice says on the label that it's 100% juice, and there's no other ingredients listed, then how is it corn syrup? None of the posters are saying they're using fruit drink ...

Anyway, OP, we went through the same thing with DD at that age, and we used pear juice. It didn't affect breastfeeding. Then again, it didn't do much to help the constipation either and at 11 mos, this is something we're still dealing with.

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE IN THOSE LABLES?????????????????

Sometimes I wonder if this board is frequented by 14 year olds who just like to stir the pot for entertainment. I have to admit I did something similar when I was that age.

Anyhoo, we've given DS an ounce of prune juice with his formula when needed since he was 2 months old. Needed is defined as poo that is hard, not infrequent. This was the pediatrician's advice. He said pear or apple juice would work as well.

And no, I'm not squeezing the prunes myself. Shocking, I know.

OP my son would go up to a week and one time 9 days at that age without pooping. In EBM babies up t 10 days without pooping is normal.
If you are very worried, you could also get prunes baby food and give your child that. That always induced a poop from my son when we started giving him solids.

I wonder why the problem of being overweight took over this country...

you buy babyfood, feed them bottle "100%" juice...

mothers here don't have time to cook the vegetables and mash them, not even time to squeeze an orange...

They do this in the Philippines too, and also guava nectar when they have diaper rash. My mom used to give me honey and a tea called Ampalaya, especially when I was sick.

pp,

down there moms work out of the house and they still take time to cook a few veggies once a day and mash it for the nanny to feed the child...

and we do squeeze the fruits every morning to feed the kids through out the hot hot summer days

My ped suggested using pear or apple juice (made by Gerber) to mix w/ rice cereal and I did it for months. I didn't give my son juice (mixed w/ water) until after his first bday.

Yes. They are legally required to disclose all the ingredients in the product. If they are lying, they are breaking the law. Besides, I bet you fling cash at the register every time you can get something labeled "organic" or "local".

I wonder...
if it's all so natural, why the food we make home from scratch doesn't last as long as the "100% natural" you buy from gerber?
does the plastic that "leaks" from the packing into the food makes it last longer?

have you read all the crap they add to make the food/juice last????????????????????

Why is it that all the people in this thread who are being mean and obnoxious are the ones who can't spell?

It's LABELS, not LABLES. If you're going to scream, use spell check.

And tsc, tsc, tsc, what does that mean? Did you perhaps mean tsk, tsk, tsk?

I swear this is enough to make me want to jump to the defense of plastic.

Hey - crazy mommy - go away. Your posts are always ridiculous and borderline crazy. I bet you are the same poster than makes outrageous comments on all posts.

I know I am just feeding the troll - but seriously - this is a geniune question that OP has asked. If you aren't willing to offer anything even mildly intelligent, then just don't offer anything at all.

And - since you appear not to be a native American - I will give you the benefit of the doubt and just clue you in that here in the U.S., we have strict false advertising laws and the FDA regulates food labels. More power to you for only serving squeezed orange juice to your family, but that doesn't make you a better mom than those who don't.

You really think she gives her family fresh-squeezed orange juice? I was thinking eye of newt and toe of frog.
