All hands Company Meeting CEO announced layoffs due to Obama Re-election

Crazy , I didn't think CEOs are allowed to would tie it to Obama's re-election. This is in the private medical sales field.

What reasoning could you cite that would prevent a private company from operating under their own terms with regards to investments and personnel decisions?

Did you just watch "It's a Wonderful Life"?

My guess: CEO is a rep and is angry, but the layoffs were coming regardless.

I agree.

Even assuming they were adversely impacted by Obamacare, no one with any brains would make business decisions based on the assumption that a Romney administration could undo the law.

Just as living in a fantasy world kills the GOP at the polls, living in a fantasy world will tend, over time, to kill your competitiveness in the business world.

Just another case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

This is just a cruel way of rubbing it in.
The same mentality as the Republican poster who wrote that he said to the beggar: " I'm not giving you a dime today - ask Obama for money. that's what you wanted, isn't it?". When in fact he never had or intended to give the man anything anyways.

That makes zero sense. I sell medical supplies too and I know of a very large company that just bought out another company-not sure if that's who you are referring to or not but they are laying people off because they don't need so many reps.
Re:affordable care act, I have met with several docs over this and while no one can predict the future most docs are saying this is a good thing since millions more people will have coverage then millions more people will be going to the doc more often

Bad business man. Maybe he lost a government contract?

Many companies are doing layoffs and it will only increase. Liberals want to bury their heads in the sand but this is our new reality.

Sometimes you wish Obama would ask, "What would Nixon do?" Nixon would have sicked the IRS on a CEO like this with audits for the next few years, in such a way that this guy would have looked forward to his next proctologist visit.

I see lots of companies blaming Obama for having to do layoffs. I see little to no evidence that it is anything on than normal market conditions causing the layoffs. I saw one article blaming Obama for RIM laying off workers. Because his politics are the only problem RIM is facing these days, obviously. In every single specific case where the information could be examined, it was either a continuation of other layoffs, restructuring, or some other cause. Yes, the CEO might claim otherwise, but looking at the companies past trends often casts serious doubts to their claims.("CEO: I had to move my production and over 300 jobs overseas because of Obama's policies." "Reality: Didn't you build that overseas factory six years ago and shift over a a thousand jobs there before he was elected?" "CEO: WARGLBARGL! OBAMA!" I don't really pay attention to what people claim is the cause. I prefer to actually look at the details and determine the most likely case myself.

If these companies can't adapt to changing conditions, they can go extinct like all the other dinosaurs. There are thousands waiting to take their place.

While you were passing this information on, people with common sense realized that a company isn't likely to lay off its entire work force, did a simple Google search, and found the claim to be false.

I am sure there are a few companies which will find Obama's re-election a more convenient excuse for layoffs.

There was a coal company that did the same thing today, laid off 150 of its 3500 person workforce. They blamed Obama. Then someone pointed out that most of the laid off people were at a mine in which 9 people were killed and the government fined the company in response. The company said Oh, that's totally unrelated.
