HI, I am just 12 weeks and looking for prenatal yoga. I am not a yoga- fanatic, but am pretty fit and have done it before. I am looking for a studio in DC. Any recommendations? |
I highly recommend Capitol Hill Yoga. |
Circle Yoga at Chevy Chase Circle right off of Connecticut. |
Inspired Yoga (U Street) is starting a session in mid- September. |
Joy of Motion with Margaret. She does Ashtanga and is really fabulous. |
Tranquil Space Yoga - they have a studio in Dupont and also in Bethesda. There are prenatal classes at both locations - www.tranquilspace.com is the Dupont website and www.tranquilspacebethesda.com is the Bethesda website. |
I would second the Tranquil Space recommendation. Anne, one of the instructors, is a certified midwife, has been teaching prenatal for a long time and is truly wonderful. |
Second the vote for Joy of Motion in CC. It's at 10 am on Sundays and is a great class. |
I go to two classes...one on Sunday's at Flow Yoga that's pretty mellow and one during the week in Petworth at Yogahouse (kundalini style which is great for bonding with baby and for labor and delivery preparation). |
I would also recommend Anne at Tranquil Space in Dupont Circle. She is nurturing in her practice. |
Joy of Motion Margaret. Amazing. |
Inspired Yoga's current prenatal class is Sundays at 4. The group includes women at all stages of pregnancy, postures that relieve lower back strain and breathing tips for labor and delivery. The Monday evening beginners class at 6:30 pm isn't prenatal, but it is also very relaxing for me at 22 weeks. |
Joy of Motion in FH or in DuPont Circle. |
FYI - Capitol Hill Yoga is closing its current studio space on Oct. 14. They're still looking like mad for another space in the neighborhood, but there will be no more classes at the 5th St. NE location after Oct. 14.
My favorite prenatal instructor, Carrie, has referred students to her classes at Willow Street Yoga with studios in Silver Spring & Takoma Park. I highly recommend Carrie's classes! |
I'm taking Pregnancy Yoga II at Willow Street Yoga in Takoma Park. It's great. Wonderful
group of women. The class is 1.5 hours long, which leaves time for us all to "share" with others before we get to the actual yoga. It's nice to form a community of other pregnant friends. |
