If you're black, it's perfectly fine to be anti-semetic and racist in general. This includes folks like Marion Berry, Obama's spiritual leader Jeremiah Wright. If you're a Democrat, you can even be a former Klansman like he late former Klansman Sen Harry Byrd. I guess it stands to reason that the party of slavery and racial preferences harbors such folks. More division ahead for our country... |

| FWIW, 13:29 meant Robert Byrd of WV, not Harry Byrd of VA. I, for one, found Byrd's explanation of his Klan membership quite convincing. But if you want examples of Democrats who really were racists, you can find plenty back in the first half of the 20th century, before Strom Thurmond led them into the GOP. |

If people want to know about whether or not the Democrats have racism in their midst, they should look at the orgins of the KKK as the 'enforcement arm' of the Party.

You know absolutely nothing about Washington, DC. I live west of 16th street and my neighborhood is probably majority African American. You should probably stick to celebrating Jefferson Davis Day or something along those lines. |

| One will have to explain to me why all those Southern Democrats from the 1950s and 1960s who opposed Civil Rights and their descendants now belong to the Republican Party. One must remember that it was the Republican Party that opposed the civil rights legislation. The foregoing, of course, does not mean that the Democrats have no racists in their midst. Using Barry as an example is a waste of time. No one takes him seriously, outside his ward. I am confident that no national Democratic leader will be supporting David Duke. |

Of course you know it's Robert, not Harry. It's Marion Barry, not Berry. Um and David Duke is a Republican which kind of undermines your "haven" argument if he is the gold standard of racists. And of course the racist wing of the Democrats broke off and went to the Republican party. Which we have repeatedly reminded you about. I guess conservatives have selective memory because gosh you keep forgetting that happened. |
