where to find exercise clothes if you're at least 30 lbs overweight :(

Anonymous
I put this here instead of exercise and health in the hope that more people would see it

I realize that part of my problem in not exercising is that my exercise shorts all bunch up uncomfortably (and stupidly-looking) in my crotch while I run bc they're too small for me now and that in turn makes my thighs chafe together

where can i get exercise clothes if i'm more than just 10-15 lbs overweight?

would it look too weird to wear cotton spandex leggings (the kind that only come to the knee) with a long shirt, or does that automatically look middle-aged, frumpy, and dumb ? which, I am, obviously, trying to avoid, hence the working out

you see it's a constant cycle

thanks for suggestions. . .

Under Armor on E-bay. Seriously. Only buy stuff that still has the tags on it.

Also, if you are putting in the time to lose the weight, who gives a flying f- what someone thinks you look like? You're losing the weight for YOU, so dont worry about it and before you know it, the cycle will be broken and you will fit into those smaller clothes.

Any person that wants to judge you on what you are wearing working out, without recognizing the action of working out, can get lost.

Really? Hmmm, I have never bought anything off E-Bay before. Where should I look? Do a search for frumpy fat lady exercise clothes? I am only kind of kidding. B/c that is how I feel. Thanks...

OH sorry, I see you put more info in your post above. Ok, thank you very much for your suggestion and for the pep talk. Thanks.

You go, girl! Lots of support and positive vibes being sent your way!

I HATE all the exercise clothes that are super tight and ride up the crotch (but would probably love them if I was a size 0 and looked like Evan Longoria or someting

Target has some good options. And if all else fails, cut off some sweat pants and wear a baggy tee shirt.

If that is how you feel, then just do something differently that makes you feel differently. Then you can go from there.

Buy a size up, drawstring waistbands, spanx or mens boxer briefs under the shorts will help as well. Plus they help you to sweat more

Good luck!

I wear shorts the look like biker short cause running shorts ride up too much, with an old t shirt over a sports bra and I dont give a crap what I look like (since I am already an overweight person trying to run in the first place) I got a pair of pants at old navy and the capris I like I got from nordstrom rack. Just be sure to jump around in the mirror to make sure everything stays where you want it too

I got some Nike capris (just below the knee) at Sports Authority and like those. I wear a variety of underarmour type shirts. Check out the Athleta catalogue (and one is opening in Reston next week). Look at Lululemon too. It's expensive but holds its shape better than the Target stuff (in my opinion).

maybe in the fashion forum. just a thought.

Old Navy - less expensive and holds up well. You can also get stuff from Dick's Sporting Goods and Sports Authority clearance/sales. If you want longer shorts, buy soccer shorts instead of running shorts (they have a longer inseam).

If you are going to shrink out of exercise clothes, there's no need to spend tons of money on them. And even less expensive items can hold up well.

Kohls has a brand called Tek that might work. Wait for a sale.
