How often should I have the cleaners come?

| We Both work outside the home. We have one toddler and an infant. We have a two bedroom tiny house. We are really sloppy people but do try every week to do a clean up for a couple hours. We have been having the cleaner come in every three weeks and they stay for awhile because there is so much to do. Is it better for them to come every two weeks? Or every week for a shorter time? Any tips advice would be great! |

| I'd suggest every other week as well. That's what we're at now, and we only have to do a little cleaning on the off weeks to keep up. We're considering moving it up to once a week after the baby is born, but we'll see how things go first. |

| Every other week. And clean up the place before they come. Not the deep cleaning, which you expect them to do, but the surface cleaning (e.g., pick up the toys). The less surface crap they have to do, the less money it will cost you and the better the job they'll do. |

If you can swing weekly, then absolutely.
It's not really the cleaning - it's the build up of clutter that's the issue. Ours comes every two weeks, and the night before we spend hours picking up stuff and putting it back where it belongs. Cleaners clean, they don't straighten. Ours come on Tuesday. I do find we still have to do a substantial cleaning of the floors both weekends. Everything else stays reasonably ok, though we also clean as we go, wiping down counters and bathrooms every day. Still it's the stuff that piles up that kills us. If you say you are sloppy, that's probably the stuff that hurts you all too. |

Ugh- I 'clean' the night before my bi-weekly cleaning lady comes too. I want her to spend the time doing the heavy duty cleaning so I declutter and get everything off the floors and counters, etc. I think when my youngest starts elem school and I don't have tuition anymore I will go to 3X a month. |

| Weekly for us. It's one of my rare splurges. But, I am the combination of being a huge neat freak, WOH, two boys under the age of 5, and don't want to spend hours cleaning on the weekends getting the house up to my own standards! It's worth it to me. |
