Free diet/exercise sites?

I'm looking for a reputable site that will tell me how many calories to eat to lose a certain amount of weight as well as what strength exercises to do. I tried spark people but the site is too busy for me. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

I also like and use myfitnesspal and find it to be easier and less busy that sparkpeople and WW.

Another vote for myfitnesspal.com - didn't realize it was so popular!

This is a free menu planner:

Thanks so much for the replies. I took a look at myfitnesspal and it doesn't seem like it suggests an exercise plan -- it's for users to enter their own exercise data...

Loseit.com, there is also a website. I lost 36 pounds over 7 months and have kept it off for almost 5 months now. Very good app and zero advertising.

Re exercise, it does not give you a plan but it does estimate the calorie burn from exercise. On the website there are forums on many topics, including exercise. What are you looking for in terms of guidance? The calorie math that establishes your daily allotment bases that calculation on a pretty sedentary lifestyle. When you exercise, the app incorporates the estimated burn (and the math includes an offset for what you would have burned had you not been exercising) and adds those calories to your budget for the day, you can choose to eat them back or not.

22:36, thanks. I'll check it out.

I take walks during the week which I consider my cardio. But I've read that strength can be far more effective than cardio, so that's what I want to focus on. I don't have much time but I want to figure out what I can do at home, in about 20 minutes. I was thinking some squats, crunches, pushups. I am overweight all over, but particularly in my belly (had a baby so this area is a mess), thighs, butt and arms.

fatsecret.com

Terrible name, but a really great site for tracking calories, exercise, weight, protein and sodium intake, etc...

The Fiitbit syncs with lose it.com and myfitnesspal.com. Very useful for keeping track of exercise.
