Pp - yes 13th is effective date. I was hoping that I could have everything in place by that date but Shady Grove won't start their end of processing anything until the 14th. Does anyone know how the referral from your PCP works? My PCP said that usually MDIPA only allows them to give referrals for 4 visits at a time but she would try to put in an extended referral. Has this worked for anyone else on MDIPA? |
I used MDIPA. Just had to have the initial referral from PCP and SG took care of everything else. |
I had Shady Grove submit all my paperwork early for a start date after the 13th. MDIPA said have your office send everything early and it will be effective the first day which is the 13th! Be persistant. I was able to get Shady Grove to send all my info early, after telling them 3+ times. They can do it trust ME. |
SG sent my info to MD IPA and I received authorization within about 2-4 days. It was actually fairly straightforward. Ironically SG Was actually fairly aggressive about requesting authorization; I was denied the first time because I hadn't even decided to go forward with IVF and they submitted for authorization which was denied because I Hadn't submitted all the appropriate paperwork (to MD IPA- can't remember what- maybe a marriage certificate?) |
What pharmacy is used when using MDIPA? I am a patient at SG. |
I sure hope MDIPA is 2-4 days. Shady Grove told me 4-6 weeks. Aetna is 2-4 days. |
PCP gave referral for 24 visits to cover 6 months. |
Can you tell me who you spoke with at Shady Grove or how I can reach the MDIPA specialist? The finance people in the DC office have been absolutely horrible about this. I called so many times and they kept saying that nothing could be submitted until the policy is effective! |
Call MDIPA..I spoke to customer service rep and they contacted the (hidden authorization office). They wont let you talk to them directly, but they will put you on hold and connect to them. They were very helpful, but you must call between 8 -5:30 pm. |
Skip DC's SG office and go straight to Rockville. The finance people at DC are not very good. |
I am realizing that pp. The DC finance people at Shady Grove have repeatedly said that nothing could be submitted early! What a waste of my time. I just spoke with MDIPA and they said yes, everything could have been submitted so that it would have been approved and effective on the 13th! I am now in contact with someone at Rockville. what an absolute mess DC is - really something should be done about them. |
Also - pp who was able to get her authorizaton done and everything in place before the effective date of the policy - were you getting authorization for IUI or IVF? Gosh if you say one of those two I am going to be so pissed at the DC crew at SG as they said that would take weeks!!!! |
MD IPA coverage began Monday, I am close to authorization (they messed up my PCP choice). GW started the auth process last week, I got them my marriage cert and note of us trying/not being sterilized. It is very possible with the right admin folks. Keep on them. |
All,
We received our authorization today (I am not sure how much of this is MD IPA or Brian at GW - he's the bomb). Just for your info, our cost share at GW for a cycle w/ ICSI is $5,000 and change. Meds TBD based on what MD IPA says and what my antagonist meds are. How does this compare to your experience elsewhere (or at GW)? |
SG Rockville Finance People are the best! Speak to Caitlin! |
