I'm the B6 4x a day poster....sea bands did nothing for me. I also tried acupuncture...not sure if it helped or not. I think it did a bit, went once a week. |
PP again. Lemon essential oil...the smell helped. Lemonade and pretzels. But honestly you just have to try different things, and if you are like me you will get sick of the suggestions, and what works one time won't the next. IT WILL GET BETTER. I feel so bad for anyone who has to go through this. |
My nausea was mild but constant. Sugar-free gum helped immensely. And sleep. A PP wrote it, too. I absolutely noticed that the more I slept the less I wanted to hurl. |
sea bands didn't work for me. potato chips, ginger and altoids helped. |
Just to give you different options: for me, the best is 'greasy' stuff. I eat donuts and similar things that I rarely ate before. A (well done) fried egg has saved me more than once. Crackers and similar foods, which many people recommend, do not work at all for me. Oh, and some raw fruits/vegetables help me too (e.g. carrots). These things ease the nausea only temporarily, but they help me keep food down.
I agree you have to try different things and see what works for you. But keep an open mind, what works for others might not be the best for you. Get lots of sleep and hand in there, this will pass! |
Preggo Pops actually worked well for me. My doctor prescribed Zofran when I was losing weight from getting sick. It didnt make the nausea totally go away but it allowed me at least to keep food down. For me it lasted until 18 weeks... Lots of crackers and ginger ale also helped some. Its a miserable feeling.. but it does go away! Good luck! |
I was also having really bad headaches and my doctor said it was probably dehydration, and to drink LOTS more water, which seemed to help some, too. hard to do when even water makes you nauseous.. |
Saltines helped me a lot, even just eating a couple every few hours to keep my stomach full. And drinking enough. Lemonade was great and try to drink as much water as you possibly can. I never was actually sick, but was quesy from about weeks 6 to 12 - the feeling was almost similar to being hungover, but constant for those six weeks. Good luck! |
OP Here - I'm almost 10 weeks now, on Zofran for the past 2 weeks, but this week especially has been bad. I've found there are several times throughout the day I could be running for the bathroom. DH keeps saying I'm "peaking", but at this point for me that seems like wishful thinking! I have a bit of a headache this morning, might be slightly dehydrated. Sipping ice water as I type, hoping I can actually make it through a day of work.
I'm hopeful this will pass (at some point), but after feeling so bad for so long it seems endless! Thanks for all the suggestions, I was tempted to try the preggo pops (I'm willing to try about anything at this point)! |
OP - I'm so with you! If it is any consolation, there appear to be many other people out there experiencing something similar. I'm one of them.
Many days I feel like crying a little. It is so bizarre. I feel for my husband who has been very supportive, but he, like me, is hoping this will go away after the first trimester. I wonder if there is a pregnancy support group that can help? I'm on the lookout for one near Tyons Corner... Good luck! |
OP Here - now 13 weeks and the nausea is FINALLY gone. I'm off Zofran, and feeling better (minus the exhaustion from the insomnia).
To those who are in the midst, it will end! Believe me, I was sure I was going to feel nauseous the rest of my life at that point (7 weeks of it), but it does end! |
