Please help me. I have a rising Kindergartner and I'd like to get a decent backpack for him that doesn't come from Target or LLBean. Suggestions please? From those who have tread this path before me.... |
Umm...LandsEnd or Kohls? Most places are going to be similar to LLBean and Target... |
What's your beef with Target and LL Bean?
Target doesn't have decent backpacks. Lands' End is an option. |
Pottery Barn Kids? Hanna Andersson? |
I purchased an Addidas backpack for $17 at TJ Maxx.

op here. some people like target. some people hate target. i fing hate target. i also would like to get a backpack that doesn't require that i embroider my DC name so it can be told from the other 88 in kindergarten. thus, no ll bean. in the whole wide world of web there must be some nice, cute backpacks from somewhere else... |
Company Store (company kids) has some cute ones |
WalMart. |
Isn't monogramming LLBean backpacks a choice? |
REI |
North Face was a huge selection of backpacks. Might be a little pricey for a kindergartener but it's not target. |
Kipling @ Macy's. |
We got a nice LL Bean one, and I liked it because it was a junior size. So just right for our rising K. But anyway, the ones at Hannah looked nice too. We are not going to monogram it. I will probably write her name on the inside with permanent marker. |

I think OP's point is that if you don't embroider the name/monogram, the backpack will get mixed up with other similar looking ones b/c the LLBean stuff is everywher. If you are getting an LLBean one & don't want a monogram, at least get the other embroidery (flower, lizard, butterfly). A lot of kids have the same ones and your kindergartener will VERY likely bring the wrong one home at some point. My 5th-grader brought home the wrong LLBean lunchbox 3 times last year! Another kid had the same one. The kids do not open it up & check for their name written inside. They assume it's theirs & grab it & bring it home. |
