Parenthood - the show

I really like this show and love some of the actors, but why does it have to be so depressing....what do you think? Did you watch this week's episode?

Because it's pretty realistic. I have a teenage daughter and a son with asperger's and the show is pretty spot on sometimes.

This week was amazing. It gave me so much anxiety. I wanted to trade my girls in for boys. DH never watches it and he moved from the other room to watch it with me. It is just so real!

I love this show, but OMG it is depressing right now. I am not LIKE Julia, but I get her. The second baby storyline is killing me right now.

Who thinks Haddie ends up pregnant?

I actually hope they DON'T go that direction - it would be so cliche.

I don't think it's depressing at all. I think it's trying to get at real issues of parenting.

Honestly, they just need to bring Jason Ritter back and let Lauren Graham screw his brains out. That would make up for the lack of happy, although realistic, storylines.

I agree, it is too obvious for it to be Haddie. I think Adam is about to get a big surprise.

Gah! I have serious dis-like for this show. But I know people who like it, so... yeah.

Everytime I think they are going to go the cliche'd route - they fool me (with the exception of Crosby's personal failing in the past few weeks - but that was not cliche'd so much as to be expected from someone who struggles with maturity as much as he does).

did they EVER deal with the chick he was with at the beginning of the show (Parker Posey)? It seems like they just forgot she ever existed.

It's scary. My oldest DD is 5, but I can totally see the drug-scene playing out in our house in about 10 years. Not necessarily about drugs, but just about any boundaries, really. It scares the crap out of me. And taking the door off the room? We haven't had to do that yet, b/c the issue wasn't trust, but we certainly had to empty her room of toys and books a couple of times. Yikes. I am soooo looking forward to the teenage years with two extremely strong girls in the house. It's going to be GRRRREAT!!!
