Make sure to turn everything off so the system doesn't overload when they flip the switch.
I'm really sorry some of you still don't have power. It stinks. I don't miss that aspect of living in Gaithersburg. ![]() |
Oh, I know. I was being sarcastic. I think my power is back on, but in 20853, which came back late morning, power is back out. effing pepco. |
20814, just south of Grosvenor metro, came back on around 1pm. |
Anyone in 20015? We are sick of contingency planning. |
We're in DC proper, so of course our power's back on. Sometimes living in the Most Powerful City In The World has it's advantages. I hope you folks on the hustings are back up soon. |
OP here in 20895. I was just told by Pepco we won't have power until Sunday at 11 p.m. This sucks so bad. Back to the hotel and spending an insane amount of $$$$. |
PP with the dead fish here. We live in Woodside Park, close to Dale & Colesville. Our zip code, 20910, has more customers without power than any other area in PEPCO's entire service area. |
Pepco is the main reason I will never live in Maryland.
I hope all of you get power back soon! |
Bethesda 20817 still no power and very angry. The contents of our fridge is in bins in the backyard buried in the snow.
If I get a Pepco bill with a flyer advertising backup generators I'm gonna scream. |
No! They don't send out flyers advertising generators in the bills, do they? Really? That's a scream. |
In 20015 and it came back on around 1AM. |
Bethesda 20817 near the Davis Library -- power back when I arrived home a 4:45 PM Friday. House was already normal temp, so it probably came back a little while ago. |
20815 here. Still no power. No one deserves it. I want to punish Pepco. |
We've been really lucky I guess. We live close-in Silver Spring and have for several years, the only time we've lost power for more than a few hours has been this Wednesday (out for 11 hours) and during the big February storm - it was out for just under 24 hours.
So sorry to everyone who does not have power. If it makes anyone feel better, my in-laws live in the mid-west and one Christmas (the year we spent with them) we were without power the entire four days we were there. And it gets frickin' cold there. No 27 degree nights - it was much colder. They borrowed two heaters of some kind which worked pretty well but it sucked. And where I grew up a few hours south of this area, we would lose power ALL THE TIME. So it's not just Montgomery County! |
WTF! I'm so sorry! We were so fortunate this time around to not lose power but I just can't stop worrying about. It's not just the loss of power (electrical), it's the reality that you as a citizen are powerless to do anything about it. It just isn't right. Please, please, please, write to your County Councilperson and let them know what is going on. We wrote to ours last year, Roger Berliner, and we've been getting updates from him on what he is doing to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, much of the responsibility is the hands of the state. Personally, I think we should all tally up the personal costs of this loss of power and send Pepco a bill, or file a class action suit. If I was a lawyer I would definitely look into it. We have friends that invested in a whole house generator so they would have backup power. They've been waiting for weeks for Pepco to give them approval to start using it. Well, what do you know, but they were without power for 24 hours while their $20,000 backup system just sat there because Pepco is too unorganized to get out there to turn it on. Sorry about the vent. Phew! |
