2011 girls tryouts?

Anonymous
Anyone have intel on how teams (top 2) are looking for 2011 Girls at BSC, Arlington, McLean and VYS? We've been to these tryouts and we see the same girls at each. Seems there will be a lot of movement - anyone else sense this as well? Hard to gauge what the teams will be like next year with GA /ECNL RL moves added on top of player shuffle.

Sorry I don't, but if I find anything out I will let you know and post it back up here.

There’s some movement at McLean because of the change to GA. Kids at these tryouts did not make the top GA team and are trying to decide if they want to remain or go to another club.

Two of these don't go with the other two. You would know by now if you can make the two NL teams, they are two of the best teams for the age in the area. The other two (McLean and VYS) would never be considered with the NL teams unless you already know you are looking at RL. So then its GA vs RL debate, and its quite obvious GA is going to be stronger than RL in VA moving forward starting next year even. GO to McLean GA with your head held high!

I would consider Alexandria GA.

This is decent advice, Alexandria has the club structure to foster an atmosphere of improvement now that they have GA back.
Also, ask yourself if you would rather be a bench player on the 1st team or a full time player on the 2nd team? My DD is being looked at on the 1st team, but I'm hesitant to take it (if offered) next week as I know the score, she'd go from starting with healthy 2nd team minutes to subbing with less minutes on the 1st team.

If I was a soccer betting man, I'd put all my chips in on Ryan Rich. Say what you want about Alexandria of the past, but this guys is the real deal and has turned this club around from the ground up. Harkes would not hold a candle to him. If you have an offer with Alexandria GA at any age and you're on your club's second team or RL, you should take it and I'm talking to you ECNL benchies, Arlington, GFR and Stafford RL players.

For the love of all things holy, take the GA offers, people. If your kid isn’t on ECNL NL by now as a 2011, they won’t be. And if they for some ungodly reason make it there, good luck with getting any decent playing time.

Unfortunately this is very true and my DD is a 2010 and I fear we are a year too late.

Please the 10's in GA are universally not very good teams. All are .500 or below records. I'm sure there is a team that would welocme someone who thinks they should be playing ECNL to one of their practices, just reach out to club's GA Directors, after first evaluating your DD's level or course. Maybe you are not a year too late, but a year on time with GA Aspire starting.

Curious why you fear you might have waited a year too long?

Yes, we have the on the clock Alexandria warrior and some other parents that dare to say that ASA is the place to be. Please, know that ASA puts all their eggs on their leadership salaries, therefore coaching quality suffers badly. Don’t go there. There is a reason why they lost their GA status not too long ago. Will see in a year, perhaps they get demoted on both fronts boys and girls. Save your time.
