$40 in Potomac.
Why should the rate be different in Potomac? If the same tutor teaches the same subject in different areas, why charge more for Potomac? |
Maybe Potomac is a longer commute for this particular tutor? |
Range from $20-40 an hour depending on level of experience and whether he/she comes to us or we go to them. |
$60 to $80 for high school levels in Fairfax |
I pay 115 - 130 dollars per 45 minute session with a SLP. My child has a minor learning disability. She had the proper approach to my child's very specific issue. My child now reads beyond grade level. Worth every painfully paid nickel. |
I charge $60 for a 2nd grader in Springfield. |
OMG I never imagined how expensive it would be... |
$60-$75 in Potomac area for Chemistry tutor. Maybe less for elementary school, but probably not significantly.
It is more expensive in Potomac and Fairfax because their are good tutors and wealthy parents who can afford it. |
That's ridiculous. Not everyone in Potomac is wealthy and stupid enough to pay more just because they can. |
I am an owner of a small tutoring company in the area. My rate is $75 a session. The tutor comes to your house with all materials (we're not talking homework help!) and communicates with the classroom teacher on a weekly basis. The cost is justified because all my tutors are certified teachers with a masters degree and experience in MCPS. I only hire teachers because knowing HOW to teach is just as important as knowing the subject matter. Knowing the MCPS lingo and asseessment formats are also valuale pieces. There are a lot of options out there and depending on the need of your child can make a difference with whom you choose as a tutor. Keep in mind that a lot of flex spending plans will reimburse you for tutoring services as long as you have a signed note from a pediatrician and get invoices from your tutor. Some tutors just want cash and then you can't use this option.
Location shouldn't determine price of the tutor...experience and competence should and from my research, I see a range from $75-$120 per hour session for in-home legit qualified teachers. |
Good luck! Sounds like a rip off! |
We pay $45 an hour, plus $5 for the tutor to travel about 7 metro stops to my daughter who is in 3rd grade. |
Wow!! Where do you find tutors for $45 per hour. We pay $80 for someone who has good credentials on paper, but whose abilities I am beginning to doubt. |
What subjects is that for? Science? It sounds high to me for humanities, unless we're getting a deal. Our tutor charges $60 an hour and is a former attorney. Our DC loves him. He doesnt do high school math or science though |
The going rate at our public school (JKLM) is 75 and up. Sometimes this is just for homework help, not actual tutoring. |
