ED recs for female EE

| Need advice- my daughter plans to apply to be an electrical engineer- she has a 3.92 weighted gpa with top rigor- she’s AP bio/chem and physics c; AP human geo/DE US History/ AP Govt/AP lang/AP Lit/ math analysis/ AP Calc AB and AP Calc BC/ AP Comp Sci P but a mix of As and Bs- weak SATs -1200-looking for test optional -know electrical engineering tends to be heavy male- any recommendations for where she should apply ED1? |

| I would instead look for EE programs at schools that fit her stats. EE is a very difficult major and I would question ability to make it through for a 1200 student. Look for lower-ranked schools that may offer the pace and support she will need. |

What is unrealistic is expecting a kid with a 600 math to make it through EE at a reach (even a reasonable reach). I understand not limiting her. Just have some schools more in her range on the list.
What are her math grades? AP calc score(s)? |

| Don’t listen to the PP. My daughter was a great student who topped out at 1320 on the SAT and excelled in Aerospace Engineering at Michigan. One test (that comes with a huge dose of anxiety) does not determine aptitude. My youngest is now going through admissions and some schools with really great engineering programs take a good chunk of their class TO. Case Western and WashU come to mind off the top of my head. |

Carnegie Mellon is test optional.
I know another female who got in there ED fir engineering (not sure about her SAT). |

My daughter didn’t go TO as she had strong scores but I wanted to suggest a couple places she got in for engineering that might be good places to apply.

Hmm, maybe good schools that aren't overly known for their engineering programs -- like Syracuse, Rutgers, Temple
Or specialty science schools like Stevens Institute of Technology or NJIT? |

1. Maybe retake the SAT - or alternately take ACT to try to bring test scores up.
2. If really intending BSEE and not BSCompE, then it would help her chances to make that clear in the application. |

I was thinking WashU as well as ultra reach. U Rochester or BU next tier. |

GPA is nowhere near high enough for CMU. Need to look a level or two down. Maybe Case Western, Pitt, RPI, Union, Lehigh. Schools like that |
