No.

if you accept an enrollment, do you retain your waitlist number at schools you ranked higher?

#11 waitlist at Tyler- Spanish Dominant
#4 waitlist at Bruce Monroe- Spanish Dominant
#33 waitlist Marie Reed Spanish Dominant
#47 waitlist Bancroft Spanish Dominant

I’m honestly shocked that we waitlisted at Tyler. Last year they didn’t even fill their Spanish dominant seats…

In the past year a lot of Spanish dominant children have arrived in DC.

But do they all know how to play the lottery?

Thoughts about the following for 1st+?

-Marie Reed - Dual (English Dominant: Offered
-Stokes Spanish: #2
-Oyster: #9
-Bancroft: #8

You got an offer for Marie Reed dual language? Take it. That school is awesome (have friends there who switched from another dual language program and have been thrilled, also the school has a great swimming program which is a wonderful bonus).

I’ve heard good things, but didn’t know about the swimming. That’s great. Stokes has been #1 on our list for the past four years, although I’m not sure if we could get in at 1st grade even being second on the waitlist.

My impression is that Marie Reed is better than Stokes anyway, so things may have turned out for the best for you.

Younger sibling (will be PK4) is #11 at Walls. Not sure how much weight to apply to this…

Same all around.

Almost. One A- in 7th grade. Excellent extracurriculars. DC is still sleeping and I am dreading giving the news.

I have an elementary kid, so not paying attention. Does this mean the Walls cut off for interviews was 4.0?!

I thought it was higher than 4.0. That's why 4.0 kids are getting rejected.

No, they weighted teacher recommendations heavily this year. So if your kid had a 3.7 or higher, whether or not they got an interview was heavily determined by teacher recs. Which is a change and was not really clear to anyone (teachers, parents, or kids) until WAY late in the process - when lots and lots and lots of kids with perfect grades did not get selected to interview.

PP here who gave my waitlist #s

I’m not concerned with who knows how to play the lottery and I hope the intention of your comment wasn’t meant to be demeaning to an entire group of people.

I was hoping to get some feedback on my waitlist numbers though and if there’s any chance of getting into those schools

+1, better administration and more stability overall.

For PK-4:

SWW@FS: WL#8
Marie Reed ES:WL #18
The Riverseed School: WL #1
Matched at Stevens ELC

Already at Amidon would we have a chance at SWW or MR realistically?

First time doing the lottery after just moving to DC...

Applying to PK3, and we're inbounds for Ludlow-Taylor, where we are waitlisted #10 (and with so bad waitlist number for other schools that they're all irrelevant)

In 21-22, 4 offers were made by June and 9 by October
In 22-23, 6 offers were made by June and 11 by October
In 23-24, 0 offers were made by June and 14 by October,

So based on that, there seems to be a fairly good chance that we will get a spot sometime during the fall/winter, is that right? (i.e., in the previous two years we would have gotten a spot by October, and just missed out in 21-22?).

Thanks in advance!

Matched with Oyster-Adam’s, doubt we’ll go, definitely a big commute.

Anonymous wrote:We are waitlisted #3 for a school even with sibling preference.

Is that #3 in the sibling preference or overall?

Are there two other siblings parents waiting to get in ahead of us or is it #3 regardless of anything?

If you are #3 with sibling preference the other kids ahead of you also have siblings.

Or they might have a preference higher than sibling. One thing to note, poster ranked #3, is that other people can jump ahead of you if they have a higher preference. So depending on your situation, you might see your number go to 4, 5, etc.

There’s no preference higher than sibling.

Not true, could be a charter.
