Each club will release their own slate with their coaches 😂

Wait until the email, this is just people causing mayhem. There’s no insider knowledge.

Wow the back and forth on here is something!

I have a question as someone who is not nearly as knowledgeable about or invested in this stuff as most on here appear to be

This merger means there is one less ECNL club in the area, correct? And at the oldest age groups, there are these so-called “trapped” players who still have a year of HS left and this will be moving to a younger age group. So the net effect is that there will be a massive influx of kids into the oldest age group, and with far fewer spots available.

It seems like the net effect will be tons of players who are currently on ECNL teams, be it at the oldest or second-oldest age groups, will suddenly be stuck without a team? And for those who haven’t signed with colleges, at a massively important moment in the recruiting process.

So whatever childish arguments are being had on this board between parents, the real losers in this process will be dozens of kids whose careers and recruitments are being totally disrupted due to the incompetence and unprofessionalism of the entire youth soccer enterprise, and particularly the craven antics of the people who run the ECNL.

While the parents on here cry into their travel soccer invoices and lament the loss of their SAHM cocktail party bragging rights about their supertalented kids playing on AN ECNL TEAM!, as always it’s the kids who end up getting totally screwed.

Unfortunately, you are correct.

Look no further than the combined roster sizes of U-17 plus the trapped 06 players from Union and Brave teams this year. A combined 55-60 players for 18 player spots (and a max roster of 30) on one Fairfax Virginia Union 06/07 team next year.

It is worse than that because even the "winners" may end up with unqualified coaches for the purpose of college recruitment simply because somehow they deserve a golden parachute for running a ECNL club into the ground.

"Earlier this month, we were informed by the ECNL league that our National Program membership for the Virginia Union was in jeopardy due to poor performance, particularly on the boys side."

and

"ECNL feels that Fairfax County is an over-saturated market and given our performance in recent years, our boys program was one of the organizations under consideration for expulsion from the league.

So MYS is being transparent about communication with ECNL, in a message intended for ECNL and ECNL-R--in other words, the facts and are already known here--and parent response is to call this "crappy" and "disinformation"? Come on.

+1000. Everyone wants to know why this is happening, and why MYS agreed to it. The 2/27 note explains that.

Why this would be seen by parents as inappropriate is beyond me. Everyone knows the Union and Brave girls’ sides are stronger than the boys. The 2/27 note wasn’t exactly spilling some giant secret.

Could MYS have shared some vaguely-written corporate-speak? Sure, but then everyone would complain about that.

My ECNL player is a CB, and if we lose a game 7-6, there’s no mincing words about where the opportunity was. We should be applauding transparency, not criticizing it.

Maybe the reaction we’re seeing on the MYS boys’ side is why they are where they are in the first place…

I think this could all be avoided if these boys clubs focused on the basic philosophy of building a solid foundation at U littles.

BRYC U littles-Pretty behind across U9-U12
VYS U littles-Very Behind
Mclean- Getting better but U9s seem to be the strongest group out of all.

The pull of MLSN makes it all pointless. That needs to be addressed or expectations adjusted.
