I think they might have been thinking of other class years. From looking at their Instagram, looks like VA Juniors has 2024 D1 commits to Georgia State, Iona, and Robert Morris. They also had 2024 players that committed to Bucknell and UMBC that no longer are shown as playing for VA Juniors - perhaps decided to play somewhere else for 18s after committing. I can't find any mention anywhere of a recent UVA or JMU commit, for 2024 or 2025.

I think this post referenced kids who have gone D1 and hardly played, from previous years.

Thx! After looking at the VAjrs instagram, I think any confusion came from a photo showing current 18s wearing their college sweatshirts . Players ate attending UVA & JMU but not as recruited athletes

Is CHRVA going back to spreading tryouts over two weekends for the 2024-25 season? (I understand it's a possibility ... U10-U14 the first weekend and U15-U18 the following weekend.) I don't yet see anything posted on the CHRVA website.

Yes, from what we've heard it's split back into two weekends this year. Thankfully -- last year was incredibly difficult for everyone, especially if you had two players in your family.

Will the remaining coaches at Renaissance DE try to continue without Chris???? Anyone have some info. We liked some of the coaches and would consider returning with Chris gone.

No info on him currently but if this is the Chris that started it, my daughter didn’t go to Renaissance tryouts because of the mess he (and others) left at ECP last summer when he took over and then suddenly left that program, which soon dissolved. She didn’t go to Mojo either so it wasn’t all his fault. Did the same thing happen again?

Very curious- what happened? Did he leave to go somewhere else? How was this past year for the DE branch- the DC branch was a bit of a disaster as has already been mentioned by several people.

I have no idea what exactly happened at RVC DE and why it's folding. I do know there were MANY unhappy players and parents, last season was a bit of a shit show. At least 2 VERY unhappy teams.

Apparently Chris is the new director at ECP KOP and coaching 17-1s. I'm sure he'll ruin that club since it appears to be his thing. He doesn't do it alone. He has a toxic coach or two that assist him in his destruction.

It will be a branch of Renaissance VBC, based in Pittsburgh. This club will be up and running for this coming season- 2023-2024! Details regarding clinics/teams/tryouts should be posted over the next few days!

Thank you for the important piece of info. as we were left in the dark taking pre-tryout clinics drastically changed from 20+ girls to 8!

Former ECP Chesapeake and Renaissance parent here: If anyone has ANY friends/family/club players in PA, Chris Smith has now been hired by ECP in PA. Tell ALL your volleyball people from PA to stay FAR away from this man. The lies, gaslighting and shortchanging of families and coaches is truly indescribable. I hope ECP PA sees the light before next club season begins, in the meantime save anyone you know in Philly/King of Prussia/Downingtown/Bucks/Lehigh Valley/Berks from a horrible experience if ECP does not fire him before the Fall.

Trying to catch up here —Chris Smith left? did Renaissance DC just fold? Did DC parents and players know?

Yes he left Renaissance DC after the “season” w/o even notifying his coaches, 23/24 was so difficult for 13s, 14s, 15s, possibly more. He needs to be avoided at all costs. Parents knew as much but with more players than clubs available we hoped for better. It was much much worse. Tryouts in PA happen in the summertime I cringe knowing other people might be put through the same, including coaches.

It's too late. These poor players and families had Roberta last season. She is wonderful. A woman of faith and family, such a great lady! Now they have Chris. Hopefully ECP will see how incapable he is and fire him before many more girls suffer.
