MS DD has 1 class currently without a teacher, despite recent communication from the school that they are fully staffed. How are your MS and HS kid fairing? Do they have teachers for each of their classes? |
0 vacancies on my daughters MS schedule |
0 at our ES |
0 at my kid's MS and all teachers that are longstanding at the school. |
+1, recognized all the names from last year. |
It's possible that the teacher is hired, but still being processed in HR. The teacher cannot show up in SIS until that is completed. |
0 vacancies for my 3 kids. |
0 for two middle schoolers and teachers we recognized. |
0 for 5 kids. One HS teacher is new, but has a masters in education from GMU, so she’s a legit teacher. |
0 for MS and 0 for HS -- all experienced and returning teachers |
I'm going to assume the PPs have kids in "good" schools. Am I right? I would assume most vacancies would either be in lower performing schools, schools with a higher percentage of low income students and/or schools with psycho admin. |
Not necessarily true. I think your assumption is valid for inner-city or very rural school systems where the schools fail on a wide scale. Schools in FCPS that are low-performing/low-income had some of the strongest teacher satisfaction survey results as documented in the last ES employee survey from a few years ago. In most cases schools with higher than average vacancies are due to bad admin. |
My youngest DC is at Rachel Carson so ok, probably considered a "good" school. My oldest is at South Lakes.... which, based on the other thread probably is not considered a "good" school (we are zoned for Westfield HS a "good" school maybe - but pupil placed to South Lakes for the IB program). |
South Lakes is considered a "good" school. It's roughly in the center in terms of SAT and other metrics among the FCPS high schools--and the FCPS high schools as a whole are considered good. |
Zero at our school!! |
