Ok. I have emailed and talked to multiple coaches from multiple local teams. I think the problem is that DD is right in between a top top team and a second team. She has not had the coaching and maybe not the skill for the top top teams but is not challenged in practice and gets frustrated in games on lower teams. The second problem is that options in MontCo are very limited at that level and we can’t drive more than 30 min on a weeknight for practices. So we have tried all of the clubs within 30 min and she has not landed on a “great” fit yet. I think we will stay where we are for now and look for guest options with other teams. I will also say that coaches are busy, and getting a response is hit and miss. I don’t sell my DD as the next Chloe Ricketts, but rather try to be honest about her development. Thanks to all for insights.
To ECNLDD: this is why people don’t want to play ECNL. The parent arrogance is really astounding.

I am assuming this is a joke… ok, note to self: DCUM generally not authentically helpful! Live and learn.
Ok, this is all quite general but the question was actually really specific. Is anyone able to name any clubs that are open to tryouts? Clubs that are done as far as I know: Bethesda. Potomac. PPA.
Am I missing any top clubs or top teams on large club that are still open in the MontCo area?
In normal season yes, but right now I think the timing is bad. The season is over, summer is starting, I don’t know any teams holding practices over the summer. Also this assumes that I know the coaches to reach out to, which I don’t; hence the post.
Are there any really good 2010 girls teams left with open roster spots? MontCo, not Virginia unfortunately.
Good point. We live in Rockville. And part of the issue with FCGB is getting to the Soccerplex for practice at rush hour, which can take 45 minutes…
My DD plays for a fairly serious smaller club in EDP. She is 2010. The practices are 3x weekly and are all over the place, and can run late (past 9pm). She has other commitments and is thinking about finding a team with a close consistent practice location, a little less competitive environment so the girls aren’t pitted against each other, yet good coaching and a decent team. She is very skilled and smart on the field but not a large, athletic player. Any thoughts?
I have been very surprised at the quality of play during tryouts considering the comments on this thread. Fast, skilled, above age skills, lots of mature communication. I am not at all sure that there is no ECNL in here. Kids are very, very good.
