My oldest is most likely going to Villareal or Lee Mount Vernon -- he is struggling mentally and a change of environment is what he needs.
My youngest is finishing out his season with FCV but with them moving practice out of the STJ to George Mason University -- remaining with them is no longer an option.
Without an Alexandria offer, is why I'm also considering accepting the Arlington spot as I know it would be quality coaching. We also know both of the coaches for his team and believe he would thrive under them.
Interesting on Arlington. My youngest son was not invited back for an extra look but did receive an offer for the gold team. Ironically, he has not yet received offers from Alexandria or SYC -- am I crazy to turn down the opportunity to get into Arlington as we got a coveted spot and he is a strong player and most likely would move up within?
Arlington is a challenge as we are Alexandria based and my oldest is most likely moving from Alexandria to another club this year. Any idea what fields U10 Arlington typically practice on and timing as that changes what I can and can't do?
My son was offered a slot on the lower Arlington U10 team.
We are awaiting an offer from Alexandria as well. It appears that Arlington Gold is equivalent via NCSL division standards with Alexandria Black.
Does anyone in the Arlington program know if taking a spot on the lower team allows you a chance to move up during the year or do they have no movement throughout the year? How does the double coaches work? Do they both work with both teams? Does the entire age group practice together or just the 2 teams that share coaches?
We have always been in the Alexandria program but are looking to potentially change....I appreciate any feedback I receive.
My son after getting a rejection immediately following tryouts was offered a spot this AM.
Does anyone in the Arlington system know how the double coaches work? We are a fan of the 2 coaches that would have his team....also trying to figure out if they promote during the year from within to a higher teams. Or taking a spot on a lower team is your way in for movement the following year.
I am also looking for this information as well as anyone currently in the program on how the training is and all.
My oldest son is struggling in a large program on one of the lower teams and I know he isn't playing in college but he loves the sport. He needs out of the current environment to build his confidence up. We did a trial with LMVSC and he liked the kids and the practice but changing is always scary. The lower LMVSC team at his level would be below where he currently is playing.
If the offer doesn't share the team, are they receptive to telling you or is it tied to separating them in the summer when the teams are all fully set?
I still haven't heard anything so I am assuming no....but weird that nothing has still come to fruition. Again, he was pulled aside by a coach...talked to and put into a different drill. No other kid on his friend got that at U10...at U13 no one was really looked at seriously and I am ok with that.
My sons both tried out U10 and U13 for Arlington on Monday night. My impression was that the tryout to see if you will be invited to officially tryout with th team. My U13 son (did not do well and I don't expect him to get invited back)...my U10 did do well and was pulled aside by the coaches more than once -- anyone know the process or the timing on when I should hear something or if I should assume he also will not get invited to tryout at this point. We are holding off on accepting any other offers but time is getting tight.
In the Alex/Arlington area, what do people use to supplement training when the fall season ends before the spring season begins? Not looking for futsal as prefer to use that as game situations on the weekends. is there training that can speed up play on the ball that isn't futsal for the winter?
My DS loves to play goal. He does specific goalie training for it. The problem is his technical foot skills are digressing because his coach only ever puts him in goal during practice and scrimmages but then he plays half the game in the field during real games. I am frustrated as last night for example he was bored and played goal the entire 60 min scrimmage when the ball was primarily on the other side of the field. He got nothing out of it. We had this same issues last year with his old U8 club and it's repeating itself after I had specifically told the coach I don't mind if he plays goal during games BUT I need him to develop or he'll be stuck with no footwork, etc. Any advice or how do other goalie parents feel?
We have talked to the coach before but either he's trying to develop the other kids and my son needs less work but I feel like communication is key. I told my son to not play goal this weekend in games and to say I want to play in the field next week during practice but it's hard as he also wants to do what the coach asks him. We have a 24 hour rule before we can talk to the coach following practice or game issues so looking for advice.
