Move it to Ally Bank and call it a day. Ally has the best online and mobile interface. while still giving 1%
I decided to stay in ATL. Life is wonderful.
Help him when needed. Then once a promotion ect comes your name will come up first.

Also, if you need to do anything ex: family in town or leave early for a mental day. You know you wont get any grief from him.

Sounds like a win win.
OP where did you decide to go?
Anonymous wrote:I think you are overestimating your biweekly pay. I make $108,000, don’t have a health insurance premium and max out my 401k, and I bring home $2215.00 biweekly. I have some extra taxes withheld, and a couple more deductions for transit and about $80 of non-tax deductible stuff, but you’re either under contributing to your 401k, or overestimating.

I only contrib 3% to 401k I have a few cc i have to get under control before increasing that %. I'd be pissed to earn 108k and paycheck only $2,215. However, you're covered for retirement.

I ran the numbers again on paycheckcity.com it looks like after health insurance and 401k it places bi-weekly check at $2,460.

Nonsense.

People exaggerate. DW and I each make ~90k and we are doing fine.

How much do you spend on housing a month?

This is what you get for 450k in a nice suburb of Atlanta (Johns Creek), will all 9 rated schools:

This is what you get for a nice suburb in NOVA for 450k:

You decide.

Yes but if you work midtown/downtown it 1 to 1 hr 15 min each way. Not a lot of transportation options (though some) .

Exactly! I definitely wouldn't live in Johns Creek not my type of neighborhood. That springfield house may be a bit extreme I'd probably do Woodbridge, Va

vs. Georgia?

Ga and VA both have 5.75% state tax rate.
I have recently been recruited to take a position in banking in the Northern Va area. The job is paying 90k which places my bi-weekly pay around $2,505 after 401k contrib and health insurance. I believe the position will have a lot of upward mobility. However, the cap will definitely end around 110K. I don't want to become a district manager for more money ( I like spending evenings with my family and not on conference calls all night and early mornings. )

Now were currently in Atlanta I have the opportunity to work for another bank in the investment side of the bank. However, the pay is much lower 60k base + commission which will probably cap at 5-8k year. So a total of 65k-68k.

We currently rent and definitely want to buy a house in couple years which seems impossible in DC. Like holy crap a house deep in VA is 500k. Same house in suburbs ATL 275k

Spouse currently works in ATL making 80k however their not madly in love with their job just pays the bills and not opposed to move to DC to find better opportunities. Spouse is talks with Hotel corporate office which pays around 90k. Places us at 180k total income in DC.
ATL = 145k hhi
DC = 180k hhi

Now the biggest hook is we are from Pennsylvania and whole family is in PA. Washington DC would be happy medium to be close to our parents and family. However, I hate the cold!!!! lol

Thoughts? is a 90k salary worth moving? We are both 29yrs old.
