Doesn't look like they've reached the final yet.Semi's are next weekend. https://www.vysa.com/thestatecup

2010 girls schedule: https://vysa-2022springstatecup.sportsaffinity.com/tour/public/info/schedule_ladderview2.asp?sessionguid=&flightguid=261F307D-D722-435B-943F-FD6E0575385C&RoundType=0&sortby=Group&tournamentguid=74D845F8-5384-4584-A5DF-A61B803EA1FC

Thanks. That's USYS. I'm asking about the Club Soccer state cup or as they call it...VPSL.

I had no idea there were 2 state cups! VPSL looks like a smaller field with only a few strong teams. Are there really just 7 teams in a tournament that declares a statewide winner?

Yes, there's only a few teams. obviously it's not as "prestigious" as the USYS state cup (and there's plenty of people that like to slam the USYS state cup because ECNL teams (and MLS Next teams on the boys side) don't join. But it is what it is. VPSL was/is the previous NPL league that now turns into ECNL-R at U13 I THINK, so VPSL state cup is really only a league championship....but a championship none the less.

Last option, would be playing EDP with 2010 Boys with her first coach, someone's perspective I trust above all, and he believes if my DD is good enough the ECNL clubs will still be an option 2-3 years from now when it really matters what club you are at from a college id/recruiting stand point. At this age, working on technique daily and challenging yourself with the increased speed and physicality of the boys game will be more impactful for my DD. I really don't know...?

So what is the 2010 Girls soccer landscape shaking out like as the u-12 year is wrapping up?

Plenty of good EDP girls teams in this area as well.

And yeah- no crazy rush to get her on an ECNL team now. Also, be prepared for her to be a star right now and 2nd team material in a few years. not saying that will happen but too many think talent now means talent forever.

I would put her on an excellent EDP girls team first (at least top 2 EDP divisions) if playing with 2010 boys is at a lower level of play, that is (below the top 2 EDP divisions). There are a couple of girls that play in my boys EDP divisions who are as good or better than some of the boys and would be shoeins for ECNL teams (if they were interested). At less competitive boy levels, the increased speed and physicality isn't really much of a challenge for more skilled and smart soccer players. At least that has been our experience with one kid playing up, and that's what you'll read here on this board - playing up is not worth it unless you're playing up on a very good team. Or applied to your scenario, playing with boys would not be worth it unless it's on a very good team as well.

Any rule against playing on both teams Girls ECNL and Boys EDP? Too much soccer probably but are there any rules against this I wonder...

she can be carded in both ECNL and EDP- no conflicts on those cards

True BUT...check the ECNL rules and with your coach/team manager. I know on the boys side, ECNL only allows a certain number of "discovery players" who can be carded on another team even if it's a USYS team.

Does anyone know when and where the U12 Girls VPSL state cup final is between SYC and VYS? ... or maybe it already happened. If so, result? Thanks
Thank you. So I weed whacked yesterday just because the honeysuckle vines grew like a foot above the ground cover so it looked terrible and I wasn't ready to kill it all. I'm not sure I can pull out all the honey suckle. There's just so much. There is a sea of it growing up through the vinca. I have to go through and rip out the honeysuckle that is strangling my azaleas and other shrubs in that area.

Also, for the previous poster...I thought the denseness of the vinca would choke out the honeysuckle but you are saying it actually helps the weeds. That's disheartening. I'll never get rid of it then.
Hello, my back yard has a nice nice flat area and then it rises like a bowl. The hill sides are about 20 yards. The bottom half of the hill (bowl) is grass. The top 10 yards or so is a mixture of ground covers. Pachysandra, English Ivy but probably 90% vinca. It's been fine for years but the last few years this vine, which I believe is honeysuckle, is growing up through it even though the vinca is very dense. I usually just use my string trimmer and cut everything that grows above the vince....but I'm getting tired of the maintenance because the honeysuckle grows so fast all summer and it's quite a large area. I was thinking of just killing it and trying to plant grass but I have trees at the top of the hill (bowl) that shade the top half. I don't know. Any suggestions out there? Just keep weed whacking? Kill it and plant grass? Something else? Thank you!
I was talking with one of the players of one of the older ECNL boys teams and he said that "all the boys" are leaving for NVU. Apparently (right or wrong I have no idea, but the thought is that), Vienna coaches are going to get the top teams and select the Vienna players over the BRYC players. He said...BRYC isn't perfect but the idea of playing for Vienna coaches biased to their own players is something he's not willing to do...and, according to him, many of the BRYC players feel exactly the same as he does. I have zero idea if Vienna coaches are actually getting these HC spots. This is just what he told me and I guess these are the feelings across the boys teams.
Oh, the question is...what to do if you can't afford it. I think you need to play at the highest level you can afford. Network Network Network and see if you can guest play on higher level teams in tournaments. For example, find a team playing in Jefferson Cup and try to guest play in that tournament if your normal team is not playing in it. Bethesda Cup is another one. Constantly update your highlight videos and send them to college coaches. I know that takes some money but shouldn't be much. Network network network. Hopefully, the coaches you are sending them to are going to Jeff Cup and the kid can be seen. One thing, we are lucky to have some high level tournaments within driving distance. Although I believe Bethesda Cup is dwindling each year. Also, when you are reaching out to college coaches, explain your financial situation and maybe they will let you attend their ID camp for free...assuming you are looking locally. Lastly, if you can make an MLS academy team, they pay most of the fees. Uniforms, travel, etc. They have free ID sessions.
If I'm not mistaken, scholarships from the clubs normally only cover club fees and don't cover team fees, which at ECNL level can be $500-$1000. Then you have to factor is all the other expenses with high level soccer such as travel (gas, flights, food, and hotels). That can easily add thousands depending on how far you go in playoffs and for showcases and tournaments. So a club can give you a "full scholarship" but you still may need to spend $5000. Maybe more. Imagine having to spend a week in San Diego this summer for ECNL playoffs. How much is that alone going to cost you? The club doesn't pick up that bill. Teams need to do more fundraising. A lot more.
When I checked the website, it forwarded me to some sportsengine website and this message popped up.

The Youth Soccer Rankings site is no longer in service. We have been proud to help serve the soccer community with youth soccer rankings; unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide complete and accurate national rankings and have decided to take down the site. Thanks! Not sure why I can’t find those divisions on the EDP website.

I couldn't find them either. Someone had to send them to me at the start of the season. EDP website is notoriously bad.

Jeff Cup for U15s and older was just this weekend. You can look through and see EDP teams beating ECNL teams. ECNL teams beating MLS Next teams and EDP teams beating MLS Next teams, etc etc. Then after EDP D1, you have EDP D2,/quote]

It looks like EDP has Premier and Championship teams. The Premier teams are divided into I - IV, and the Championship teams are divided into 1 - V.

Which do you consider D1 vs. D2?

Premier Only. Championship Divisions are similar to lower NCSL Divisions
This is how I see it. The top Clubs are the MLS Academies DC United, Philly Union, Columbus, etc. Under them are the MLS Next teams. This is arguably the best league because these games are showcases are the the most scouted for college and obviously pro. Right under them is ECNL. Why? because these showcases are highly scouted but not as much as MLS Next. As to the level of play...I think it it's pretty close. Not all the best players go to MLS Next and one of the biggest reasons is that you are not allowed to play HS if you play for an MLS Next or MLS academy team. ECNL allows kids to play HS and even does well to allow you miss training to attend HS, etc. The next level is EDP D1 and that's because I don't feel they are scouted as much but make no mistake about it. Many EDP D1 teams can and do beat ECNL teams. Jeff Cup for U15s and older was just this weekend. You can look through and see EDP teams beating ECNL teams. ECNL teams beating MLS Next teams and EDP teams beating MLS Next teams, etc etc. Then after EDP D1, you have EDP D2, ECNL-R, CCL (which may be merging with ECNL-R maybe?) and NCSL and that's just hit or miss by team...but if you look at any top tournament, they respect MLS Next, ECNL, and EDP D1 teams the most. It's difficult to get into the top few divisions playing in any other league. I would bet that there are a few NCSL D1 champion teams that didn't even get accepted to Jeff Cup. But if so, I'm sure it was only the Fall Champ. But just take a look at Jeff Cup and see who was placed in which divisions and that will give you a very good sense of how the leagues are viewed.

Bethesda or Achilles
