Given the recent departures, I assume the major announcement is in regard to hiring/promotion.
If you have a login in one of these systems you can do it:

GotSport: https://system.gotsport.com/

GotSoccer (Classic login) https://www.gotsport.com/asp/players/tournament_search.asp

I don't remember how I got access to a GotSoccer login but that link at the bottom allows me to search for tourneys and register as a guest player.
Rec soccer shouldn't be free. But travel soccer shouldn't be so expensive, or expansive.
I recently found The Soccer Sidelines podcast: https://thesoccersidelines.com/

It's pretty amazing-spot on and worth the time. I wish I had listened to all of it before we unexpectedly found ourselves sucked into the world of travel soccer and had to learn everything from 0 as we went.

Trace is much more bang for the buck. Don't have a camera to lend, but if you want it filmed manually with a tower camera (much better video quality) - happy to do it for $50 per match.

Thanks. We will just go without recordings at this point.

Having compared Veo 1 to Trace for our team I disagree. Trace quality and post processing is poor.

Agree with DaniRoja, Veo vid quality much better, they just need to get their act together as to customer service and CAM issue's.

Always found quality of picture to be an issue with Trace.

The video quality is lackluster, but they've added a really cool "Multicam feature" where anyone with a phone from any angle can just hit record and it will sync up with the video - different angles at better quality at no additional cost - with the stats. Still taking Trace over Veo.

It sounds like you're choosing iPhone over Veo....?

The Trace trackers are a hassle and when we trialed it the data was not accurate. It was fun to look at and a great gimmick but if we can't trust the data, what good is it?

Connecting to the Veo2 can be a little annoying, but the primary issues are hardware-related. Lots of frustration and some jubilation here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/522303685518817
Huge long shot but I thought I'd try! Does anyone in Northern VA have a Veo 1 they're not using this Columbus Day weekend? I'd be happy to put down a large deposit if you'd let me borrow it. And if there's any way I can be useful to you I'd gladly lend a hand as well.

My Veo1 served us well. We upgraded to a Veo2 and it's been a nightmare. I'm pretty sure we'll be without a camera for the Columbus Day tourney and that would be a big bummer. Thanks for even reading this!
Watch games and practices of club and team/tier your child would most likely fit into. Narrow your list to 2. Ask that coach if your son can come to some practices.

Probably also worth looking at the team below “best fit” since many parents overestimate their own child’s stock.

If you are part of either of these clubs please tell me your experience (pros/cons, etc). Our current coach just isn't cutting it for our son and he will be with the boys for a few more years.

Who is PSA?

PSA is Ashburn: https://psaashburnsoccer.com/

To the OP: Ask to attend practices at both clubs and see what you think. Think about where your child fits in so you can take a closer look at that coach/players/parents for that team and the one below it. Check out a game too.

I finally got this from a team manager: https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/18071
I vote for whichever my child prefers

3 clicks is too much?

And where on the NCSL and CCL and ECNL sites can you just search for a specific team?

They all look pretty similar to me:

NCSL
- go to http://www.ncsl-soccer.com/
- click Schedules & Results
- Pick a Division
- Pick a Team
- click Other [x] teams < - you can find any team for that club and drill down from there.

CCL
- go to https://www.clubchampionsleague.com/
- click Scores & Standings
- click on Club. Pick whatever team you want for that club

EDP
- go to https://www.edpsoccer.com/
- Navigate to your correct League/Conference via Leagues menu
- Click on Schedules & Standings
- Use Search feature to find your team
1)

FC Dulles: Poor pre-travel program, but they fired the previous coach so unknown what next year will look like.

Herndon: Good technical training.

Great Falls/Reston: Good technical training. Very large group (2x+ size of Herndon).
https://www.gfrsoccerclub.org/Default.aspx?tabid=1328457

CYA/SYA/Valor: I think this is similar to clubs that allow rec players to attend an additional pre-travel training as a supplement to rec. And so you pay and attend as an addon per rec season, and not full season year (fall + spring).

Another very new local one you may not have seen yet: https://dmvfc.org/recreation/#u9-pretravel

2) You can try out anywhere and everywhere. Whichever pre-travel you join will already have a deep understanding of your child's skill so you could even skip that tryout.

3) It's just newer and smaller than the others.

All the clubs should let you attend 1-2 pre-travel trainings for free. From there, pick what you like. I'd recommend going to at least 2 to see how they switch things up. You don't want to do the same thing every practice because your child won't grow.

The most important thing right now is technical training. Once you get into travel there's less technical training. They expect you to do more training independently. So don't get into technical debt now.

You don't have to commit to anything right now. Any club will take your money for pre-travel at any time

How were these fields come game time? Was the entry fee really $800?
