I'm all for this kind of arrangement IF Facebook authentication is used. Short of that, it's all basically anonymous garbage. What's worse, having quasi-anonymous named accounts can amplify the effect of trolling.

Go ahead and ask Jeff, he’ll be able to tell you we’re not posting from the same IP address.
I support this. The level of vitriol here makes me not only avoid this forum, but cringe at the idea of my kid even trying out for travel soccer.

Special counsel Mueller has no sealed indictments as Russia probe ends: NBC News

Special counsel Robert Mueller has concluded his investigation and will not file any more indictments in connection with his inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 campaign, NBC News reported on Friday, citing a senior U.S. law enforcement official.
There are no sealed indictments.
It is possible that leads uncovered during the special counsel's inquiry and handed off could lead to charges brought by state prosecutors or other parts of the Department of Justice.

Wasn't the speculation always that the really big stuff would be passed off to state prosecutors to prevent Trump from pardoning everyone?

Democrats shot themselves in the foot. Mueller had 2 years and tons of money and found nada.

Good luck taking Trump down now. If you go for the king you better not miss. They missed.

Have you not noticed what's going on in SDNY?

No sealed indictments. And good luck stringing Americans along on another wild goose chase.

You have zero understanding of what's happening in New York.

DOJ is saying there are no sealed indictments related to The Mueller investigation.

SDNY isn't part of the Mueller investigation. Like I said, you have zero understanding of what's happening.

PP, do you have any good reason to think SDNY is going to do something big?

SDNY is doing what SDNY does best, investigating and prosecuting organized crime, financial fraud, etc. They are the ones who have been doing the fraud investigation regarding the inaugural committee, they're investigating Trump's tax records, it's where the Michael Cohen/hush money investigation is happening (remember Individual-1?), they're the ones who subpoenaed Aon regarding potential insurance fraud and illegal kickbacks by the Trump Organization, they've already filed suit against the Trump Organization for its charitable fraud, and they're investigating lending fraud in connection with his business projects (Cohen supposedly gave them a lot on this). That's just what I can remember off the top of my head.

Mueller was limited to just Russia. SDNY can pursue every other illegal thing the Trumps and the Trump Organization have done.

What they do best? Yeah, their prosecutions for the 2008 financial crisis were really something! Oh, wait...

That's what you're falling back on? Oh, that's sad.

Some of the crimes most damaging to the citizenry were almost entirely ignored by the criminal justice system and my highlighting said FACT is what you call "falling back"? What a hoot! Nothing I've said is pro-Trump. But I yield to no one in saying that hoping for good things from the SDNY or any other ensconced part of the legal profession is f-ing stupid!

Prosecutors don't get to write the statutes, and the statutes didn't exist to give the kinds of convictions people wanted (although they did collect about $200 billion in penalties and settlements). When DOJ tried to find an avenue, the initial court rulings went so poorly that DOJ decided it was better in the long run to abandon those prosecutions (which were unlikely to succeed at that point) rather than risk a broader challenge to the statutory system that might jeopardized future financial crime prosecutions.

Not sure what PO you’re addressing but no one on this thread has said “trans kids are SOL.” No one.

Look immediately below your post.

That is not SOL, just bc you don’t like it. It’s a legitimate response (and the policy of the NCAA).

That’s actually not the full NCAA policy, and hasn’t been since 2011.

They post a topic in regular politics and get replies from
Republicans/Conservatives.

Because of such “disrespect,” they post the same topic in the safe space. Few or no replies.

PERFECT.

They just want to hear themselves.

You all are more than welcome to join us there, all you have to do is choose a name.
Jeff, perhaps you could post something in the original politics forum letting people know about the new one? I had no idea you’d created the new one until about ten minutes ago when I checked in on this thread and saw the discussion.
