DC and Montgomery Libraries both have downloadable media for checkout. MCPL has a bigger selection but bigger user base as well. Popular books do have long wait lists but they also have more copies.

You cannot extend a Kindle book once you download it and it is on hold for you only 2 days. Be sure to set your borrowing time period to longer time if you're a slow reader.

Do not forget Freegal - both DCPL and MCPL offer it. You can get 3 free songs a week!
I'm working on some enhancements to our website and I have a question for the users:

How do you check whether a thread you were reading has been updated? Do you look if the number of replies have changed or do you look at the date and time of the last message?

Thanks. Deleted it.
Thank you! And thank you for being part of DCUM. Wishing you all Happy Holidays!
This is a great thread. I compiled the list of the books mentioned here and posted on the homepage. The list is ordered by number of recommendations, I wasn't not counting just mere mentions or quoted text. I looked up some of the books online to get the titles and authors' names spelling correctly. The best couple hours I spent on the computer lately. Thank you all for the recommendations!

I haven't tried it, but you can use ground flax seeds mixed with water:

Dear OP, Thank you for all the hard work you've done on this important issue. I know it must be hard to tell and retell your story. It probably would have been easier for you to try to forget and move on, but I applaud your courage and persistence for sake of other women in similar situations.

OP, will you be willing to share your story on the DCUM Blog? I'm sure you'd wish to remain anonymous, so Jeff or I could publish your post for you. Just send us a private message how to contact you.

Thank you!
Having skimmed through the thread I didn't notice anything fishy going on (sockpuppetting and such). The subject was shifted to whether someone would badmouth a school in hopes of improving their chances of getting in. But there are many positive posts as well, which I think balances things out. But thanks for bringing it up, we'll keep an eye on it.
Thank you, the spam posts have been deleted.
It's gone. Thanks!
Thanks, I deleted it.

I deleted it. Thanks
I don't know of any other uses of vinegar other then what you describe. One other thing it does is remove odor - just boil some diluted vinegar and it gets rid of strong smells, like after cooking fish. Also add some vinegar to water and let it boil for few minutes inside of a microwave or a regular oven to help with cleaning.

On counter tops, tiles, sinks, etc I use soda. Just sprinkle some and wipe with damp cloth or sponge. It works well on my flat-top stove and works great on coffee/tea stained cups and mugs. So anywhere you need scrubbing, soda is a big help.
Depending on how many kids you'd want to invite, you might want to check out Sport Rock - rockclimbing place in Alexandria. They also have a location in Sterling.

It was my son's 6th birthday and kids had a blast climbing. Price is $25 per kid. You bring your own food and cake and they provide gear. Kids get to climb for about hour and a half. There is one instructor per 3-4 kids.
Another vote for www.washingtonsgreengrocers.com here.

We get bi-weekly large organic box. I love the variety, and quality is good. It is usually about half fruits and half veggies. Also you have flexibility to substitute or add something in your box. They also send out newsletter with recipes for produce in your box - very helpful.
