I am unfamiliar with how MoCo public schools work. I went private and I am really unfamiliar with how the system works and how to get off on the right foot.
I see from the web there is cut off age for kindergarten. If it helps, I think we'll likely land in Wood Acres.

Any advice out there on the following questions:

When to enroll - any advantage to early enrolling?
My kids are going to be going into pre-k/K - is it too pushy to contact the principal or PTA?
When does the school day end? Do I have to arrange for after care?
Do public schools offer any sports or arts? How can I find this out?

Any info would be helpful, I am calling the school and searching the web site too, but thought it would be great to get any tips from actual parents of kids in the schools.
Thanks!
I am in charge of figuring out schools and home purchase in Bethesda. So far, I have seen 2 houses in Wood Acres that I like. I have a 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old.
I am told Wood Acres is a good school - any current parents have some opinions for me? All input much appreciated !

We are considering buying a house near Great Falls MD in Potomac.
Any opinions on the area? In particular I am looking for links to community forums, blogs or other local resources.
Thanks!
Hi I am the OP..This is very helpful info! Much appreciated.
We are trying to figure out what house to buy. We found one really like in Silver Spring and 2 that are okay in the Wyngate area. So, I searched this forum and see positive thoughts about Woodlin, but here is my questions - are the Bradley Hills, Wyngate clusters so much better. I have looked at rankings and it seems these latter schools have slightly higher scores and many fewer children living in poverty, but I still don't have a sense of how much better they might be? Is it 5% better, or 25% better...that could affect my decision. I appreciate all opinions and any thoughts on the clusters for these areas as well.
Thanks much,
Worried Mom
Can anyone recommend a piano teacher in Chevy Chase? Lessons will be for me, a Mom on maternity leave and a near-beginner piano player.
