What a disaster. I'm registering now for Virtual Virginia for January. I gotta get my 1st grader out of this sink ship.

My immunocompromised son needs virtual. This townhall gave me 0 faith in APS providing the VLP in any acceptable format half-way soon. I'm contacting Virtual Virginia tomorrow.

Can anyone share main takeaway??

Does anyone know any private virtual programs (non-religious) still taking students?

We have a plan that doesn't sound different from the plan before school started, but we just plan/hope to do it better. Oh, and we're so committed to the virtual program that we are now focusing on our original plan more.

Main take always are they are apologetic and aware of the issues. They have been working to fill staff vacancies (really the teacher shortage is across the county/state/country) and are trying to get creative with recruitment. Interim principal came off confident and in control— if I were a parent of a VLP student, I’d be happy she was taking the lead. Apparently a former FLES teacher will begin providing Spanish immersion language arts next week. Sped services should be managed by home school case carriers and related service providers.

I know of several teachers who wanted to teach in the virtual school, myself included but there was no guarantee we would stay. The advertised position said you can be placed at any other school if they didn't need you. Ummm...why would I leave the school I'm in for a crap shoot or teaching virtually or being moved to a different school.

But that’s always an option. People get moved every year, even after the start of the year in some cases
