1 yr has been at in-home daycare since 7 mo. Has never cried at drop-off. I picked him up today and I noticed again that there was no reaction to seeing me at all - I guess I figured he might have more of a reaction as he got older but it has never happened. Is this normal? Anyone else’s kid do this? Just so different from what I see the other kids do at pick-up that I’m wondering if something’s up. |
Maybe he's tired. Did he recently drop a nap? |
Better than crying and not wanting to leave and overhearing them call the caregiver mommy. All of that’s happened to me multiple times at our in-home! |
I would think nothing of this. |
Mine was usually happy to see me, but was often occupied with whatever she was doing when I arrived, so she didn't come running or anything. My take was that she was confident that I would return, she was content at daycare, and she had not yet developed separation anxiety (which often happens in toddlers, so you might not be out of the woods). |
DD is 2.5 and the most recent pickups is the first time I've noticed her really running to me. |
1/3 of mine was never excited to see me. The closest I got was a recognition that he belonged to me and would have to leave soon, a resignation.
NT and I am confident he loves me. Just not demonstrative to this day (age 9 and I still only get side hugs haha). |
OP here. Thank you... these responses are reassuring. Guess I'll pick something different to worry about next, LOL. |
I would check with a pediatrician. |
