| Somehting has been off with my son's ankle. There was no clear injury or event, but he has been complaining about it for a week. We got him an orthopedist appointment two weeks from now. He is normally a midfielder, but thinks he should ask for something with less running in the interim. He can run some, but 70 minute games are feeling tough on his ankle right now. He used to play left back, which seemed like a bit less running I suggested that. What do people think? Any other suggestions? Before anyone says it, I know there is no soccer position with no running, just looking for less. |
| Depends but honestly I'd rest until clear. GK if anything, just don't take goal kicks. |
Your GK is usually the best athlete on the team I wouldn't take on that pressure while returning from injury. Just train and get back into match fitness. |
1.) "GK is usually the best athlete on the team" is a blanket statement that does no good to the folks of younger kids trying to learn soccer. Often not the case at younger ages and there is no jumping into GK at the older ages. 2.) Your kid needs to be cleared by a doctor or show no resistance in movement before he takes the field. Too many years of sports and life ahead to make a small issue a bigger one. |
Your current goalie must suck. My son can't GK effectively with a hurt ankle. If the ankle is hurt your kid needs to rest it. |

He should not be playing if something is wrong with his ankle. I know two teammates who played through ankle injuries. Now in their late 40’s they have serious problems walking and go up steps. The doctors say they see it all the time. Seriously he is out till you see the ortho and he/she clears your son. Do not tough it out. |

These are funny but honestly everyone is right. Normally for aches like this it can take 2-3 weeks of rest to get back in shape. Go ahead and start now, you are just prolonging your rehab. |
