dc office of tax revenue - how to get help

I'm trying to get in touch with the dc office of tax and revenue after realizing that they erroneously removed my homestead tax relief. On hold for an hour and counting with no one picking up. Any tips for how I can actually get this resolved? Is an hour plus hold time the norm? I've had better customer service calling the IRS.

Do you have an account on https://mytax.dc.gov ? Create one if not. Then you can use the messaging system there. I normally get quick turnarounds (i.e. by the next day) using that system.
