We've never seeded before. I'm looking for recommendations for a nice grass that stays green in the winter that won't die under an Apple Blossom tree. TIA.
They are tons of options at HD/Lowes for high traffic or shady area grass seeds. Work pretty well too. You can also buy some sod if you like
Could dwarf mondo or liriope suit your needs?
Most grass likes full sun and won't grow well in deep shade, regardless of what it says on the bag. But if your canopy isn't very thick, just overseed with something sold as "shade" grass. If the area under the tree gets very little sunlight then you'll maybe want to mulch or consider a perennial groundcover.
Johnathan green has a shade option. we used it by crepe myrtle. it did well in winter and spring but died in summer.
Be sure to read the grass seed expiration dates on the packages. Our Ace hardware store has bags that expired years ago.
