How scary!! From the news "10 children, driver rescued by boat in Frederick Co. after school bus trapped in flood waters".
“We had a school bus try to cross a bridge that had water going across it; the school bus got stuck,” Wivell said. All 10 children and the driver were rescued from the bus by boat, with the help of first responders from the sheriff’s office and the Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. |

There's a firestorm on social media, with at least one Board of Education member (of seven) calling on the superintendent to resign over her decision to dismiss on time (as opposed to cancelling or even releasing early.)
Alban (superintendent) is initially standing by her decision to release on time. She's attempting to throw the sheriff/first responders under the bus: Alban told the News-Post on Thursday that her dismissal decision was made on the advice of first responders and emergency management personnel, who were monitoring the forecast and didn’t anticipate the severity of the storms. Any decision to dismiss early must be made by 11 a.m., Alban said. “It looked like there would be some rain whether we dismissed two hours early or stayed the course,” Alban said. “The very heavy, intense raining — my understanding is that [it] had not been showing up on the radar until it was almost actually on top of us.” Buses still could have gotten caught in dangerous conditions had schools let out earlier, Alban added." https://www.fredericknewspost.com/news/education/fcps-alban-stands-by-dismissal-decision/article_b054c9f8-942d-5be8-b61b-e58be411d524.html |
| I wish there was as much ire about the negligent Carroll County Board of Education not following the Return to School plan it approved and not requiring masks the first week of school and fighting the MSDE's masking requirement altogether. |

Yes, that Super SHOULD resign.
What an idiot. She should have known she’d be blamed if anything happened. |

How dare she prioritize learning over hysteria.
Imagine releasing an entire school system of tens of thousands of kids away from their learning because 10 kids might have to sit on a bus too long. |
Or die, drown, etc. |
