I love the size, flexible third row, and want a hybrid.
If I get the top of the line model does it feel like a nice car? Any heated seats? Is the hybrid engine well made? Thank you! |
I have a new Sorento hybrid. It’s great. Hybrid gives me 45 mpg in mixed city / hwy. Nice size vehicle - not huge, not small. Captains chairs and third row are a plus. It has heated seats. Unlike the gas version, you can only get it in S and EX trims. Both trims are not high end. The only difference is you get a sunroof and power lift gate with the EX. I like the car a lot but I wish it came in higher trims and did not have such a loud backup tone (required on all new hybrids and the electrics). |

Yes, has one obvious downside.
It is a Kia. |

I agree. I have owned two Kias. Both were junk. Moneypits. |
| I'm looking at Kia Sorento hybrid v Toyota Highlander hybrid. The Kia has a 10 year warranty. Is Kia still unreliable? |
We have a fleet that used to have several mid/late teens Kia Souls for our employees to drive. All but one needed an engine replacement before 100k miles. |
| We love our kia sorento plug in hybrid. We rarely have to get gas. The seats are comfortable. Love the heated seats. I think Kia’s come a long way in terms of reliability. I agree with the earlier poster who listed pros and cons. We bought ours during the pandemic and had few options, so the one we got didnt have a sunroof, unfortunately. |
Not PP but I’m living in the year 2023 in which Kia and Hyundai have failed to adopt industry-wide immobilization technology so their cars are easy targets for theft. |
But on the upside, thieves won’t get very far before the engine shoves a connecting rod out the side of the block. So you got that going for you. |
| Reliability and build quality issues for sure. |
| Aren’t some insurers refusing to insure Kia’s and Hyundais? |
The “Many people are saying…” fallacy. |
|
Aren't KIA's the most stolen car brand?
|
Well, the CNN is saying … fact … anyway. https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/27/business/progressive-state-farm-hyundai-kia/index.html Granted, the article is a year old. But it’s probably worth a call to your insurer before you buy to check. |
