APS Hub Stops

Anonymous
How did your hub stop go? I found it a bit chaotic yesterday. Multiple buses dropping off at the same time (option plus MS or HS?) plus kids being dismissed from the ES where the hub was located. . It was a lot. I had a driver yell at me (He was stuck in a long car line while buses were picking up kids and was annoyed by it). Our bus was also 30 minutes late because the parent pick up line was so packed at school buses couldn't get through. Hopefully things settle down soon. I think if buses get there on time, there won't be so much overlap. At least I hope APS planned it that way (vs all buses arriving around the same time).

We aren't using our hub stop because it's further away than walking to the school. But we aren't assigned as walkers because we have to cross a very major road. So they won't put a crossing guard at the road because they've deemed it too unsafe. So parents walk the kids.

Hub stop went ok. Bus was on time. Yeah, it was a bit chaotic, but manageable. It did seem a lot more efficient picking up 10 kids to go to an option school than our old stops that picked up 4.

We are lucky that our hub stop is at a community center. Only kids waiting for the option school bus were there both at the beginning and end of the day so it was pretty quiet. Bus was right on time in the morning but a bit delayed on the afternoon.

Our was at an elementary school and went great. The morning was easy and went flawlessly. The afternoon bus was a bit late, but that's probably because it took the kids a few extra minutes to find their new bus. No big deal.

It was chaotic for us, especially in the afternoon because the stop is at an elementary school. Multiple buses for option schools, plus school buses for the elementary school and the parent pick up traffic...

The hub stops are kind of a mess. My heart goes out to whomever at transportation is in charge of assigning stops and overseeing the process. They’ve done a poor job locating the stops and there are many people who can validly claim their stop requires putting their kid in harm’s way. I’m at an option school and the bus is better than nothing, but if they’re pretending they’re providing transportation to option schools, it’s a crock. For a large number of students, it’s easier (and much safer) to drive than deal with the inconvenient bus arrangements. They should just acknowledge that they’ve abandoned transportation for option schedule old and be done with it.

Please no. We really like our hub stop and bus option.

I’m at an option school and far prefer my hub stop that’s a 2 minute drive (7 minute walk) from my house than the 15-20 minutes it would take to drive to my school with limited parking. It also seems far more efficient with 3x the students getting on the bus at once. I’m in favor of the hubs.

+1, granted our hub stop is at our neighborhood school so it’s very convenient for us!

+1. It's also nice that our hub stop is the only stop on the route so the kids are on the bus for less than 10 minutes. Super quick ride.

It must depend on the hub stop. Some seem to be convenient. Some less so.

If there are hub stops that are still chaotic jn a few weeks once things settle down, hopefully APS will adjust.

I guess our experience was better than many. Bus late but arrives before the second option group and they (i hope and assume) are gone before the actual kids who go to the school arrive.
