Would you travel second trimester during Covid?

Anonymous
My last living grandparent lives in Europe and I haven't seen her in years. She is in declining health, so I feel like I need to see her soon. The earliest I can go is next month, but I will be 15 weeks pregnant.
I am fully vaccinated, as are all my relatives there, but the breakthrough cases are making me nervous! Would you travel to Europe in your second trimester during Covid? Does anyone have any good resources on what the effects are if you get Covid during pregnancy. I can't find any good studies on this. Would love to hear what you would do in my case, thank you.

CDC data on covid and pregnancy here: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#pregnant-population

I did travel during my second trimester, but not to Europe. Europe would put me off for non-covid reasons (I think the length of travel and jet lag would totally wipe me out) but in your situation it seems worth it.

I would if I was generally healthy and low risk pregnancy.

Because you are seeing a grandparent I think it’s worth the risk. When did you take your vaccine and when wre you due for a booster? Get the most direct flight and wear an N95 mask or similar.

Thanks all, I am otherwise healthy. I got my vaccine in March so wouldn't be due for a booster until November.
I will probably book a flight and continue to monitor cases, and will try to see if they'll allow me to get a booster early.

No.

No I would not.

I wouldn’t but I can understand if you do decide to go. I’d be worried the whole trip about my baby and about getting COVID or something else and getting my already I’ll grandparent sick. Are cases high where your grandparent lives?

Absolutely not

Yes, I'm pregnant and I did travel during the second trimester, but only to Charleston (and in June, when rates were lower). I would probably be reluctant to go to Europe now, especially with added uncertainty around travel rules.

Generally I would not travel. But I would make an exception for a situation like yours. Seems like this grandparent doesn’t have much longer and you don’t want to regret not seeing him/her.Bu you need to be careful. Get a direct flight. Buy an n95 or a kf94.
