| Anyone else at ScrimmageFest hosted by SYA over the weekend? Many of those poor fields were turned into mud, and the softball outfield was "cleated up" as well. I guess they could just throw down some grass seed today to take advantage of the rain, but I was surprised they continued to play. Fields that were green in the morning were brown by noon. |
| You were Brown by noon |
| That sucks, price to pay for grass fields in this area. |
| Why did the soccer people trash the baseball fields? They are fenced off from the soccer fields. |
Tough luck. Soccer > lameball (all day errday) |
|
SYA (which is a big org with lots of rec sports) owns the Sports Park and Virginia Valor is using it under some sort of agreement I guess.
There is a huge fight going on between the SYA board and Valor due to the fact they went forward with the scrimmagefest and left the fields in that condition. SYA wants Valor to pay to repair. The fields are some expensive kind of grass. |
Hell yes it’s expensive, it’s the type of grass you smoke! Btw, get a life. Valor is SYA’s travel soccer arm which brings in the majority of the money. |
Rec sports leagues like SYA are non-profits. When I volunteered on the board of a similar group, rec soccer was actually much more profitable then travel. Travel broke even. Rec soccer money coming in let us cover some expenses for less popular sports. |
| How are the fields looking this week? |
| Why, are their games schedule for those fields? |
