Kid just made varsity as a freshman following very competitive try-outs.
It only took 7 years of high level travel soccer to get here.
Can I quit driving and get my weekends back now? Anyone else feel this way? I am done. College recruitment seems like a crapshoot I'd rather not have to live through. I'd like to consider the goal reached. |
| absolutely! |
| It’s not about a goal. It’s about the experience… you missed the point. |
| What? Does your kid actually want to play or is this all about you? |
| And 99% of the time club is looked at as a higher level from the soccer community including college recruiters. |
| You have to later become captain or you don’t show enough leadership experience. |
| by 9th grade it's up to your kid now what their goals are for the next 4 years and where they want to go with it. support those goals. |
| now, if they were a U15 "playing up" with U19 that would be impressive. But in high school soccer, the freshman with talent just get pulled up to varsity because it's a waste of time for them playing JV. |
If you mean can we quit believing HS Soccer is any good, yes, yes we can. |
| Waste of time to play HS ball. Really wish I hadn't. I played D1 in college, but I would've been even better if I skipped HS. I liked the friendship, but our coach was terrible and did a numbewr on my self confidence. Not to mention, playing on the piss poor quality of fields they had for HS was just awful. |
what a selfish biznatch comment. you really have set the bar high for your kid. nice job. |
Oh please. |
Exactly. The amount of time I get to spend with my child is priceless. |
Maybe OP’s DD is at a private school that doesn’t cut anyone but only decides who is on V or JV, or is at one of those many weak MD public HS. |
