| Our boy is arriving in a couple months. DH likes Colt, I'm concerned it would be hard to pronounce with our last name (also starts with hard 'C'). Also will he be mistaken for Cole his whole life? |
| It's the sort of name that 4H kids I grew up with would have. Not bad, but I strongly associate it with ranchers in rural areas. |
This is accurate. |
| Colton and call him Colt for short? |
| I kinda like it. I see it as maybe being seen as trendy. Do you like Colton as a longer more formal name, Colt for short? |
| Blech. |
|
I don't think you will be receiving mispronunciations. It's a pretty common name in the mid-west.
Colt Conner sounds like a Southern Senator. Elect Colt Conner for Texas Governor! Not that your last name is Conner, it's the first hard C name that came to mind. |
| Strong nascar vibe if that matters. |
|
I immediately think of that fat dude from the "90-day fiancee" show, the one his Brazilian wife called Colt-ee. Colt-ee.
Ugh. |
|
Coltie, Cult: no thanks
|
| 90 Day fiance, yeah not a good name. Let the teasing begin... |
Agreed, I like Colton as a formal/classic fallback but DH does not |
Really, any Midwest/southern sports and leisure activity - nascar, rodeo, fishing competitions, hunting’, etc. Name is fine. The only east coast Colts in know are Coltons (3), one has the nn Colt. |
| Colt? Like a horse or a gun? Not my favorite. |
| How has no one mentioned Colt Brennan, the NFL player? That is my association. Also he died this year May 2021 from a drug issue. |
