I see lots of mentions lf the report that counselors send about the high school (about academics there) and whether your child has taken a rigorous course load. Have you seen thos report? Does your counselor tell you what they are marking off?
DC goes to large MCPS school with very little interaction with counselor so am wondering if this is something we can request to see. I have no idea how many kids take AP classes for example |
| Google as your school might post it on their website |

Here is an example of a school profile:

Thanks. That is interesting. I have never seen such a profile for our school. There is a MCPS profile but if gives info about diversity, kids in special Ed and FARMS, teacher info, specific types of programs, etc. The only equivalent thing to what you posted is how many kids scored 3 or above on AP tests. |

Here is one for Whitman.

This is an example from a FCPS secondary school (Robinson) which is likely similar to what you would find for MCPS: https://robinsonss.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/inline-files/20-21-rss-school-profile.pdf |

A lot of MCPS high schools have them available on their websites. Here is RM's:

A lot of grade inflation at this school. Half the kids have unweighted GPAs above 3.5 and weighted GPAs above 4.5. Whitman, in contrast, has much lower percentages of kids in those categories. Yet, Whitman has MUCH better average standardized test scores. Who do you think is going to the selective colleges? This is a great example of why GPA without school context is meaningless. |
Wow! This is very unimpressive. I would not be happy paying private school tuition for these standardized test results. The better public HSs have higher averages. |
plus holy grade inflation. 6 kids with a C average, everyone else B or A |
Really? 6 Cs Out of 56 kids total seems fine. |
If you like grade inflation, sure. When everyone is special, no one is. |
how many Cs would you like to see? |
I found an old one for the STEM magnet program at our school but not for the school as a whole. Would colleges be looking to compare kids within specialized programs? My DC is not in the STEM magnet but is in a different program. |
This. |
