Why did Christy Carlson Romano have a hard time building a career in Hollywood?

I don't know if anyone else was a fan of Disney Chanel's Even Stevens but I loved that show and particularly enjoyed Romanto's portrayal of the Type A, overachiever Ren Stevens. She has recently appeared to have reappared on social media and is talking about the hard time she had finding work after the show ended while her costar Shia Lebeouf's career flourished.

I'm surprised as she is so pretty and was definitely a pretty talented child star.

No, she doesn't. She's been missing out on the Hollywood scene for 10 years now. She got her new show one year ago after a sustained social media campaign and Disney just canceled it. Prior to that she did a few voice actor roles but was literally not working since doing 6 episodes on Gossip Girl in 2009.

Hilary Duff’s mother was a talent agent so I think that has a lot to do with her career.

It's weird that you bring this up as I literally just stumbled across her Youtube channel two days ago and had no idea who she is (I've never watched any Disney shows).

In one of her videos I watched, she said that she's not old enough to play the role of a mom of a 12 yr old. I think she could play the same Lifetime/Hallmark roles Lacey Chambert plays - single woman having a cliche romance.

Shia seems like hot mess of a jerk of a person, and she seems bitter she isn't as famous as him. Kinda weird.

OP here, I too ran into her YouTube channel which is honestly kind of cringey. It seems like now that she has had her drinking under control and had her children, she is ready for work and is eager to partner with Disney again.

If you're a regular on a soap, you can really make bank! She'd be very lucky to get a solid gig on one. But didn't she move to Austin? I'm not sure how she'd get a full time job as an actor in Austin, TX.
