This was posted elsewhere. Has there been that much attrition to private school?! Is that common in many Arlington schools or just ASFS? How do you know? |
Yes, I think at the north arlington schools where people can afford private, it’s common. We are at a 22207 school and we lost about 20% too. |
Even now? I guess SB gamble on overcrowding is paying off: scare them off rather than build new high school. |
Tuckahoe is down to only 3 classes at every grade level. 2 years ago they had 4 classes at every grade level. |
Is this posted somewhere? |
This is the first year after the boundary change and they purposely did not fill ASFS or Innovation because of all the planned construction and uncertainty with option feeder patterns. That is having an impact, along with the people moving to private and moving out of apartments and condos during the pandemic. |
It seems like overall l, APS is down a couple thousand. Guessing many bailed for private schools or just said, enough, and moved. |
You’re the poster trying to choose between ASFS and Innovation? |
The APS statistics website has lots of info. https://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Class-Size-Report-2020-21.pdf See pages 55 and 56 for last year's class report. For 20-21, Tuckahoe had 4 classes for K, 2nd, 3rd and 5th and 3 classes for 1st and 4th. |
It was at like 120% and half the kids moved to Innovation. So…
|
yep- and the year before that was 4 at every level. now- click on classrooms and count em up- https://tuckahoe.apsva.us/# |
And you can see this year teachers on Tuckahoe's website. K for example has 3 teachers this year with 3 assistants so I believe the PP is correct. 2nd down to 3 teachers. https://tuckahoe.apsva.us/kindergarten-teachers/ https://tuckahoe.apsva.us/second-grade-teachers/ |
Did any of the Tuckahoe PUs move to Reed? We do have a brand new school this year with hundreds of new seats to alleviate overcrowding. |
Yes. The school is located in a PU that was zoned to tuckahoe previously. |
Plus, haven’t class sizes increased? |
