I need to buy some boxes and bubble wrap. Where will it be cheapest?
Try looking at Craigslist. After I moved this summer, that is where I went to get rid of my almost perfect boxes, wrap...
Freecycle
I second craigslist.
we move every year and I never spent a penny with moving supplies. I get it all free on CL
I don't live in DC anymore, but we were at our local Costco last weekend and I saw a whole "moving kit" for sale there...complete with different size boxes and all. I want to say it was around $40.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will check it out.
Third the CL suggestion. Check out the 'free' section. People often give away their moving boxes for free.
Last time we moved we got boxes at a box outlet - I don't remember the name but it was on Gude Drive in Rockville. They had tons of sizes, the boxes were fine, just had random companies names printed on them. I'd definitely try CL/Freecycle first but if you need to supplement, it was much cheaper than an office supply store or uhaul.
greenbelt paper company
we went to the place on gude drive as well. it was great! They have big bags that fit mattresses, and all kinds of specialized protection bags, wardrobe boxes, etc.
Another vote for freecycle.
Anyone know the actual name or address of the box place on Gude Drive?
If you are using a moving company, you can typically have any of their used boxes for free. We just moved with town and country (an entire house) and didn't pay a cent for a box. Just bought tape and some packing paper.
